 attention mud buddy gear heads!!! Allright got a question for those of you who have tore into these motors. I have a 27hp kohler mini hd light with the 27" outdrive. My question is can I, and if so what will i need to upgrade to a 31 hp motor? Specifics would be great? Any advice would be great.

Re: attention mud buddy gear heads!!! Better call Julian at Midwest super cub. He can hook it up with heads and a cam. Don't know if bee pee ess makes an exhaust for a kohler, but plan on fabbing one if not. Keep in mind, a 29 and a 31 Briggs is a bigger block, but those mods will prob. Get you close to 30 or 31.

attention mud buddy gear heads!!! He said tearing da motor apart so likely he meant mods.
Wit da exhaust and heads Julian informed me it's not outa da question ta hit 33+ hp. He said more importantly I'd gain 4-5 ft. lbs. a torque too.

Re: attention mud buddy gear heads!!! Sorry for the mass confusion... I currently have a 27 hp on my frame but bought a 31 hp motor. Not wanting to do any mods to my engines at all, just swap motors. What i was trying to find out is what pulleys and belt configuration i would need and if this frame will withstand the 31 hp. thanks

Re: attention mud buddy gear heads!!! i can tell u for sure that the crank output shaft height is diffrent from the 27 kohler to the vanguard big block and the bolt down pattern for sure is diffrent to so it would need some modifaction for sure and i dont see where the frame wouldnt hold up cause ur talking not much more hp and torque!!! Just my 2 cents!!
