Reverse looks to be comparable to an outboard, in shifting and performance. Who said the reverse was gonna be better than FPR never saw this video. It will likely be fast since it is built so much like an outboard in just about every aspect.

They look like nice motors. Hopefully they hold up. If it is tagged As a 44 hp motor it will be worthless for anyone in Louisiana that hunts public or leased land in the marsh. 36 hp is the max allowed on any of that land.

They have a management area modle but its not big, its a Sport H25 Habitat Management Area Special

All of the coastal wma's have a 35 hp restriction. Many inland wma's have 23 hp restrictions. Not sure which ones u run.

Being able to buy them tagged 35 and modding them after would be a big selling point in many areas.

Mr. Ducaholic, here are a few examples straight from Louisiana WLF - Wildlife Management Hunting Regulations 2012-13:

Atchafalaya Delta: Mudboats and air-cooled propulsion engines greater than 36HP are prohibited

Pass-A-Loutre: Mudboats and air-cooled propulsion engines greater than 36HP are prohibited

Pointe-Aux-Chenes: All boats powered by engines having total horsepower ratings above 25HP are not allowed in the Grand Bayou, Montegut, and Pointe-Aux-Chenes water management units.

Moral of the story - there are definately horsepower restrictions on WMA's, and as you can see above, may differ by WMA. So, you may want to check the restrictions of the particular WMA you'll be going on to make sure your boat does not exceed the max HP restriction.
