A RUDE RECEPTION

Recently, Caddo Lake, Uncertain was host to the annual Caddo Lake Fun Run. This event is for mud-motors to gather to ride on the lake and enjoy each others company. For those unaware of what a mud-motor is, compare it to a 4-wheeler ATV on water. It is a surface-driven motor designed to cut through and sling vegetation out of the way, unlike an outboard motor that traps vegetation in the well of the boat. We had a large group of mud-motors, owners, distributors, and manufacturers, who stayed in cabins, hotels, and bed and breakfasts, generating a significant amount of money for the businesses and tourism taxing authority.

Unfortunately, most of Caddo Lake is untraveled unless you have a mud-motor due to the enormous growth of hydrilla, giant salvania, and water hyacinth. None of this was brought to Caddo Lake by the mud-motors. That feat belongs to lake-hopping tournament fishermen. They are solely responsible for spreading invasive plants to nearly all lakes here.

As these families gathered, they were greeted by the sheriff's boat patrol and told not to ride through any vegetation and there would be four air boats watching them.

This was not a rowdy group like most of our tourists who speed and ride the roads drunk, and no problems were encountered in the years before. We have known drug dealers doing business everyday. I have personally called in about three pit bull dogs runing loose and have shown aggressiveness toward my pets and family members. We have children and adults riding 4-wheelers on the roads with no regard for stop signs, walkers, bikers, or the yards they cut through. Last I heard, these were illegal on the roads.

Until we can show some effort in cleaning up our back yards, let's not threaten those that haven't broken any laws. We do want them to feel welcome and come back. Don't we?

the idea of bringing in a bunch of dollars for local buisness's, plus the fact that mudmotor crowd are mostly hunters who leave the place better than they found it is apparently frowned on by lawdogs nationwide.

hopefully Y'all in texas don't have as ignorant a bunch of officals as we do in iberia parish, la. cause next yr they'll have the drunk tank and ambush sites ready so they can carry them tourists with money directly to jail!!!!!

god forbid they want to have a good time and not bother anybody.

after hearing this i can tell u dat i have spent my last money in uncertain, tx. and that's a shame, cause it's a really nice place to visit.

I could never understand why the law does not like the mudmotors.
I use to go offroad in my jeep (legal places) and there are more people tearing up private property (illegally), yet they don't get a black eye from the law like the mudmotors.

Put the sheriff and the mayor in a boat and ride them around. No press. Take them to places in the lake they've never seen before. Show them how the boats don't do any permanent damage to the invasive species.
Seems like once folks get a boat ride in one of these or see one in operation their story changes.

My impression was the guy was trying to justify his job and pump up his own ego more than a effort by the SO to put a damper on things. Otherwise there would have been several show up for the event which didn't happen. And my experience with the GW has been very positive. Don't think for a second that he is not checking things out and being shit faced while driving anything is never a good idea. But they were very polite and professional. And unless I just missed him Deputy Do Right never even came back Saturday for the event.

It is illegal to disobey ANY order given by a PEACE OFFICER....

However a PEACE OFFICER has sworn to enforce the law and risks his
credentials if he violates a citizens rights to lawful use of public lands - ask him the
reason for the order and the specific law in question....

He may under such questioning change the order to a "suggestion"....

Is the issue - a PEACE OFFICER can be held accountable for his/her action
in issuing an order to a citizen....

I have a friend that is a law maker, and according to him 6 letters to an elected offical is considered a "high concern" just a thought guys....

u can do sum feelgood spraying, say a rosery, whatever makes u feel warm and fuzzy, but that lake is too big to be 100% rid of the salvania.

as far as the lawdogs, all it takes is 1 basshole or sum other idiot crying to the paper to get that ball of harassment rolling.

Y'all are taking this way to far.....The GW"s were very cool to us and even stood around and bullshiat with some.Deputy DILDO was the only one who came and preached his little sermon to some of us.The owner of Crip's Camp was standing there telling him to leave us alone and go on about his business.He said this is my boat ramp and i take care of it...Not you.There main concern was that we would bring it back to the ramps and it would start closing in around them.

Did any of us have any problems with the GW's or Deputy DILDO??? NO....Plus it was funny to me to just laugh in DILDOS face.
