You have the cycle thing right CB. I have been thinking along the same lines for years just could not put the words down. I’m never great at putting my complex thoughts into typed out words as you all know by now but like TJ said lets grab a cold one and we can put the words in your ears better.

“Change” is what we perceive in our minds at a set point in time. At first I thought all the BS was funny, I thought jacking every single thread was cool, I eve thought hacking peoples accounts and changing there pic, signature, and profile was funny (actually that was funny) but now it just gets old. It’s not funny to all members because they are at different points in there (best Brooks type) “Mud Motor Machane thang” life cycle. I think it’s not funny because I have moved on to other things. I come now days to look at the classifieds and to see if anyone has blow up any motors lately. Other than that if I’m taking a deuce I might hang around for 20-30.

We all need to remember that beyond popular belief the "new" members that join wave after wave keep this place growing in members and ideas. They keep new sponsors, businessmen, and all around good people in business. The best part is it DEMOLISHIES anyone that does not run a tight ship (Gecker) from taking the hard earned cash from us the members.

Just because many of the members here have had the same ideas and could not get it to work does not mean that the next prop builder can’t make a better prop for the modded motor. It does not mean that the next shop will be unsuccessful at building a 100hp motor off the Briggs/Gen/Kohler block. It doesn’t mean that the next boat builder can’t make a hull out of wood and make it last just as long as an .125 aluminum hull. Ideas need to be revisited for many reasons and the cycle of life does that for us.

Nobody would be here today is men such as Bill Gates did not have “stupid” ideas.

Yep, cycles. It happens on every forum out there. Folks come and go. The original members of MMT left because I took on sponsors and stopped the MB bashing. Seems stupidly elementary to me and there's no love lost.

Being on MMT is just like standing around a bunch of guys and bullshitting. Some say things that are really funny, some come out with stupid sounding shit. Take the Brent Fonty era. Most of the shit typed by him was really stupid, like waterboy stupid. There are some funny Cajun accent jokers out there that are really funny, but BF wasn't. I know it was all in fun and some did find it funny, I just found it stupid and I imagine some would agree.

There are new members who come on and ask seemingly stupid questions. You ever gave a thought that maybe they ask because they really don't know? Everyone on MMT that has a mudmotor today once didn't, and they didn't know shit about it, . . . . and had to ask at one time or another, . . . . a stupid question.

MMT has always been the same from the time I started it, a relaxed atmosphere where men can be men. The only thing I've done is to keep the MB bashing out and clean it up a little. I never wanted MMT as a place to bash folks or companies. Yes we bs around with each other just as we would in person because most folks know each other. No different from being in a real duck blind.

I've heard some new members are scared to post fearing being bashed on. That's sad and I would say that no one should ever be scared to post here because this place is for everyone so post away. It's kinda like standing outside a biker looking bar, it looks scary to go in, but once you in you just might have a great time with some great people.

And to think that some of the "Original 50" once said that should they ever depart, the forum numbers would dwindle. Lmao
