I don't see how it trims up and down and the lower unit looks weak.

Y'all don't know about this motor? They are the original belt driven surface drive. I guess copperhead needed some competition.

Don't need a prop nut on a threaded shaft, except to protect the threads.

Post Re: DIXIE MUD MOTORS
Just drove a Dixie today-the 35hp. Gawd, it is fast and powerful! Could not have asked for a better test drive; the motor appears to be built well, it is possibly overbuilt on the drive unit, and the price is reasonable. The owner, Ben returned each and every one of my calls to set up a drive personally. I bought the 35 today after the test. Real nice people that want to build a great, simple, reliable motor at a good price. I can't wait to run the motor-I know it is going to be great. Don't believe any of these guys before me-I have ACTUALLY driven this motor, and had no issues with buying one on the spot! I will let you know how it runs my boat later on.

This, and every other Dixie thread on here should be enough to put this one to bed. If you want a small, proven motor, get a copperhead. This gorilla marketing that these Dixie jerks are doing is over the line. Give a motor to someone who runs a mud boat, your cheap motor would get more respect from someone that knows what we need, then your lame attempts at making hype. I would have put a bunch of profanity in this post, but auto correct and anderoid will not let me, I will be posting my true unfiltered opinion of Dixie motors in my toilet tomorrow morning after coffee.

I agree with russellm. Competition is good, gives you choices because not evereyone lives in Utah, Louisiana, or Alaska. Apart from tinkering and innovative improvements and refinements, a better cost with quality is many times a result of competition. I applaud this website but it does not always condone competition, I have had non-profane words deleted but I notice this site allows a whole lot. Something wrong with that expletive/picture but I am sure all the kissassers can explain it. I have always believed that a less expensive shortail can be mfg.'d and perform well. Since I drive a longtail and it serves my purposes excceedingly well, I must laugh at all the bickering and discord among the shortail owners, all the petty crap makes for good amusement.

AGREE!!! PM me if you hear one crazy story on this. A story that I'm learning is pretty common now.

Post Re: DIXIE MUD MOTORS
All this talk about copperhead-I think what convinced me was when I went to the local dealer and the copperhead motors he showed me were in only because of breakdowns ( he had 2 relatively new ones in for repair). He admitted that copperhead have some issues. He also stated that, so far, he had had no issues with the Dixie mud motors. I am still putting my Dixie and Alumicraft boat together and doing some testing each stage, but plan to run a lot today and tomorrow. So far no issues and I could not be happier with my Dixie!

I also recently purchased a 23hp model from Dixie Mud Motors and couldn't be any happier with the product or their customer service. I'm sure all the different builders out there are all have their pros & cons, but I like my Dixie!
