Is it a center console? I have a buddy with an 18x60 CC set up for fishing and he gets 22-24 with three people with all tackle, cooler, gas, etc...

You should be 3-4 mph faster than what you're doing now I would think.

Also the size of the passengers makes a difference! 4 little mofo's wieghing in at 160 doesn't compare to 4 hog mollies.

my podna has the cc 18x54 and he gets about 24 deepwater speeds with a good fishing load.

With me 205, him ~200 and our two boys bout 60 pounds each and all our fishing shit, troll motor, rods, tackle boxes two ice chest etc...

we were bouncing between 24-25mph turning up ~4000rpms.

Shit I dont run no 24-25 in my 18x54 cc. Of course us Texas boys are a little bigger than you LA boys. I'm 265 and my buddy is 285, add one more and we barely get on plane!

Do you heads and exhaust...you will be amazed at the difference.

My podna ran out of gas in his 18x54 cc and i have a 17x54 tiller. With heads and exhaust on my engine, i was able to tow him on step at 18mph....in deep water.

I picked up only about 1-2mph light, but at least 3 loaded. I run steady 28 in deepwater loaded..

No, that's what the smart boat owners say. Why worry about something that makes little to no difference? Even 5 mph isn't shit in the grand scheme of things. Woodie showed up before we had even finished tying our boats up last weekend after running back all the way from Onion island. We were running close to WOT most of the way back and probably at least 5mph better.

I could care less about going fast, my boat was hardly built for speed, and my motor was built to step a load. It get's that done and then some.

He got a bit of a head start, but we were all passing him by the time we hit that first hard right back on to the boat lane. When we pulled up at crips, we thought we were gonna have to go back and get him, but he was there pretty quick. It just doesn't make that much of a difference. I don't remember ever getting beat to the hole with the 7.5 johnson or 13 lt either...

I run an honest 20mph empty, unless you are running several miles in one direction (which very few people do) that few mph makes little difference. When you go nearly 20 miles up the river to the duck camp 20 mph is a good bit difference than 30mph.

Where I do the majority of my hunting is either tight thickets, winding bayous, or stump fields. Not many people have the nerves to get in a hurry in these places, much less get on step. My boat plains out with three people, a dog, and 4 doz. decoys and runs a pretty consistent 14-15 and thats all I need.

  I'm just curious about a round chine versus a square chine on the same boat if the square would have a better "straight line performance" I know the round is better for turning. Just a thought after he posted his speed with practically the same set up as mine.

I just think to myself, yeah he may be a little faster, but I know he needed help spelling his name when he was signing the paperwork. Then I can laugh and show up ten seconds later without a care in the world.
