Post Kill Switch for Honda clone
I've searched and searched but can't answer my question. I've got a GX390 clone with electric start and I'm looking to wire up an emergency kill switch. I'm looking at a model that has only two wires. It says it's normally a closed circuit and when the lanyard is pulled, the circuit is opened and the motor is killed. Can anyone tell me how I need to wire this up? Thanks guys.

Does anyone have any ideas? I can't find anything definitive about how to wire up this kill switch. It says (closed circuit to run) and there are two wires. Can anyone offer up a solution? I'd sure enough appreciate it! Thanks guys!

Diconnect the kill switch (unplug it) and see if the engine starts, If it does, take a paper clip or wire and stick it in the wire coming from the coil and touch it to ground, if the motor dies you have a "normally open" kill switch and it works by grounding out the coil, If it wont start to begin with you have an NC kill switch. They make lanyard kill switches for both style, you just need to look around for them.

they run with a normally open kill switch. when your switch is at the off position it is closed and grounded. chase the wires from the switch and one should run to a mercury tilt switch and a low oil sensor. these all tie together, this is the terminal kill. the only other ones you will have on most clones will be a wire to your chargeing circuit, that ties to the start solinoid then back to the battery and a common ground wire, usually tied to the switch housing.

if you can locate the wire that comes off the top of the block under the gas tank, it comes out on the same side the starter is on, tap into this wire with a switch that is Open when the lanyard is connected and your other wire from the switch goes to ground. The wire from under the gas tank (if yours has it) grounds the coil out
