 Re: generac
search it. DogWalker has one and knows the pro's and con's versus the briggs.

I may be wrong, but I was thinking that B-P-S was gonna have some mods out for the generac in the future. You might email Micah and ask him, or get on the MB forum and g-l-e-n-n might chime in.

 Re: generac
You need a carb and exhaust out the box.
They are good little engines and mine was essentially trouble free until a connecting rod failed at a little over 300 hours. Vibration rattled the exhaust to pieces, fixed that with some gussets welded to the elbows. Also the oil cooler bracket broke from vibration. The other day i had a rocker arm crap out on me.
I had less trouble with it than with the 35 Briggs I had on my gtr and long tail. Parts aren't as easy to get for the genny. You can get them but you just cannot run and get them that day. I did see that BPS was going to start selling parts and I saw a SS exhaust they had but that's about all I know of what bps is doing.
There is just more things available for the Briggs as far as after market parts that have been used and abused for a couple of years now. Parts are very easy to get for the briggs. I believe you can get more out of the Briggs with less work but the generac is a powerful little engine. Mine isn't fast at all and that s not what I was looking for with this engine. It does carry a load very well.

 Re: generac
Searched, and all that I gathered was that they are built a little stronger, and have a bit more torque and all for cheaper than a briggs.. The only downfall is finding parts is not as easy. Apparently when they first came out they had an issue with the carb and governer, but finally fixed those issues....
So what I came up with is that this motor is a better built, and more torquier engine for cheaper, with cheaper parts when you can find them, with the only downfall being hard to find parts?? Why arent they more popular if thats the case?

 Re: generac
Never had problems getting parts for mine. Lighter, cheaper and built a lot better. Mine had 185 hours with everything you can think of done to it. Not one case cover leak neither. Only parts really needed are ss valves, carb adapter and carb, exhaust and flywheel with the timing advanced 33 degrees. Head work makes a huge difference.

 Re: generac
Well I can order parts and get them. That's not the same as going up the road and getting what I need and getting back on the water. No shops in town stocks what I need, they all say the same thing we have to order it. I never had a leaking or blown gasket of any kind. Like I said they are good engines but it's easier to go with a Briggs if you want an engine you can take out the box and bolt it on and go.
I know Willet had the same exhaust issues that I had also.
