 What causes this?
My motor seemed like it wasn't charging. So I put a meter on it and sure enough it wasn't. I noticed the pigtail was burnt up so I checked the stator and that was good so I spliced the red wire and hooked it back up and it's working just fine now. Anyone know what causes the plug to melt like this.

Corrosion? No it's burnt. Cut the plug off and hard wire it

 Re: What causes this?
A lot of them just burn. The connectors are junk the best thing is just cut it off find a better connector or do like I said before

 Re: What causes this?
corrosion is where it starts at. the terminals pull excessive amp draw. hence the burning of the plug. on the older motors cleaning of the terminals should be done every oil change. on the cdi motors they are using a newer style plug but still should be looked at from time to time. they just don't burn out on thier own.
