built my mb 31 to a stage 2 35, first time i spun it over it cranked right up and ran better than it ever has..

that was 2 weeks ago and im just getting back to it to finish putting everything back together and went to crank it today and it just spun over never would crank.

checked obvious things fire, i had it on both sides. fuel when i pulled the plugs both sides were misting out ..

i finally got it to crank by playing with the throttle n choke very fast and once it cranked it ran fine in a high idle about 1500 rpm but didnt like anything lower..

pulled fuel lines to make sure they were flowing correct... spun the motor over and the fuel line at carb wasnt putting out any fuel dont know if runs off the cam at cranking or vacumm...

also my motor was almost backfiring into my carb... it would spit and hiccup and would catch sometimes and sometimes wouldnt do anything im kind of dumbfounded right now any advice would be awesome right now

when cranking it should be spitting fuel!!!!

It doesnt do anything when turning over and line is undone ...Ok does it run of vacumm when running?? Explain the hiccups and how it cranked if no fuel going to prime carb up

yes i runs off of vacume and the carb bowl was probably still full of gas the first time it cranked!! pour some gas strait in ur carb and see what happens, plus u need to check see if the anti backfire solenoid is working cause it shuts the gas off to the jets!

Maybe you have dirty Idle jet, pull breather off and make sure you are squirting gas in the carb, if so then i would move onto the jets, make sure they are really clean

Pulled line off last night and sprayed gas in carb thats how i got it to crank but it took awhile put new plugs n at rebuild but they are black now going to put new plugs in maybe a hotter plug??? Can the fuel pump be rebuild ot if it goes out what is the best solution for it?? Electric maybe??

yeah you can put an electric, do you have a primer bulb in line before fuel pump

sometimes the check valve will colapse in those primers and will not feed enough fuel to the pump therefore starving the motor.....check it out

and if its 1 of those gray pre assembled fuel lines the ethonal eats the plastic liner inside and doesnt let the fuel threw i just had vthat same problem with mine

Have all new fuel lines maybe 20 hours on them and never run fuel with ethanol bc tge motor runs horrible witg it really thinking it has something to do with fuel pump bc its not pumping fuel at cranking

Cody i dis put the bps cam in it but like i said the first time i turned it ovee it cranked right up

Ok pulled carb and completely went thru it cleaned it put it back together.. motor popped right off but seemed to be running on one cylinder until i gave it throttle.... took plugs out and putt new ones n and it seems to be running on both sides but seems to getting super hot??? And when turning off the motor it seemed to clunk a little bit but when running cant hear any noise. Thinking it might be hitting the comp stroke and not burning the fuel so its making that sound...

A bout a month old and no it 89 motor is still hard to crank act like it wants to sometimes but just wont get going

Mine acted like that not long ago ended up being rev limiter

I dont see what thay what make a difference in cranking

X10 dump the old ass 89 in your car and run 93.

up the octane. low octane detionation. what series carb u running. reclean carb. a complete dissasembly. clean pilot jets and all passages. and reset your acc. pump linkage. a rejetting of carb may also be needed. it sounds like a lean carb to me if its showing signs of high temps.

But y do yall think it was only running on one side???

My motor did this at one time, ended up being a pretty good intake leak, may want to check all your gaskets. Other cylinder woulnd't hit unless throttled up. I don't know if you remember that COdy but that may be his problem also.

Possible but cody sent me all new gaskets.when he sent my heads thinking this might be because my stock.carb wont keep u. Hopefully it will.change when mikini goes back on it... its just weird because wheb it does crank it runs fine... idk has me chasing my tail right now

H2o in gas is the devil. Mine running bad so took apart my Mikuni and the bottom was full of water/gas mixture. It might have been this lean mixture that caused the problem with my head crashing.

Foubd out why it wouldnt crank sheered the key way on the flywheel so timing was off but have a new problem motor will only crank with stock carb. Bought a brand new mikuni today boat dr set it up for me jets n what not but it will not run with it just back fire
