Post East Texas Dove Hunting???
I haven't been able to find a place to dove hunt in East Texas for the 5 years that i have lived here. Everybody talks about going to West Texas, but its not really worth it to me to have to drive 8 hours. So does anybody know of a place in East Texas to pay for a day hunt or have any other ideas? Do any of the WMA's or national forest plant fields for dove around East Texas? Or is just that there are not enough dove in East Texas to hunt?

If you get your type II permit the book they send you has some good info. Up around Greenville, Tx is pretty decent.

General rule of thumb for NE Texas is...... If you're shooting a lot of birds, you're good at broadcasting milo.

I agree w/ camo, $50 is a steal if he has birds. You must be new to hunting? Most folks keep that kinda info tucked away & are stingy w/ it like their last beer on a hot day.

Naw been dove since I was 10 not stingy or dumb I just can't hunt 5000 acres by myself
There's birds there all depends on rain and enough people to keep em moving
Last year opening morning I was shooting at groups of 15-25 birds at a time

I'd like to try to come up with something to do during the day, hopefully we can get that barn. That way we can cook and chill during the afternoon, then go out again Saturday for an afternoon hunt! Still got a lot of details to work out, but bottom line is make sure you show up opening morning!

It's just like anything else, hard to guarantee mother nature will provide. But it sounds like the right conditions are there
