I just changed the oil in my prodrive yesterday and noticed there still is a very small amount of oil if I rub my finger at the seal of the filter. I mean very little, about an eye droplet. No visual drips or anything. I hand tightened the filter like you are supposed to, but I did crank it a little by hand.

I just ran the boat today and had the same eye droplet of oil when running a finger around the bottom of the filter seal. Anything to be concerned about?

Probably the o-ring behind the stainless filter mount (for lack of a better term) where the lines take oil through the filter and back to the motor. Take the filter off and there is a nut that holds it on behind the filter. Those rings will stretch and start to leak a little. You can clean it real good and put some rat gasket sealer in there, let it set up, and put the filter and oil back on.

If I remove the filter should I replace with a new one? I assume I wont loose alot of oil, just what the filter is holding??????

No, just add back what came out with the filter.

I've had a filter do that. I replaced it with a new one and it didn't leak... I took it back to the auto parts store and they took the exchange.

I'd degrease it as well as possible and just make sure that the oil isnt coming from the 90 degree that the oil cooler hoses attach to. I have had a bunch of them come in recently leaking at the threads.

If that little drip bothered you wait until that case gasket starts leaking. LOL. The way I figure it, if it's not leaking enough to need to had oil between oil changes, it's not enough to worry about plus it keeps the rust and salt water termites away.

A drop of oil can spread and look like a whole lot. You will learn to live with it if stick with a MM.

I agree with you both. I think I may just leave it and not be so anal about it unless it gets bigger.

I have been keeping an eye on my case gasket especially since I am just over 200 hrs. This will a good time to put in a performance cam as well.

go around the case and tighten em up ever so often. Mine was leaking a little when I bought it but the bolts were loose. I tightened em up and it hasn't leaked since.
