Post Useful info on GTR trim relay replacement
I didnt realize my battery box was leaking on my boat where my relays are located, and I burnt a relay with all of this water we have down here. I went to auto zone and found the relays they use for off road lights, they look exactly alike. As soon as I plugged it in, the circuit breaker tripped. After a little research, I found out that the ones used for lights have two hots for powering two lights. The correct one is a SPDT relay, 5 pin, the center pin should be labeled 87A. If the center pin is labeled '87' only, it will not work. The Duralast (auto zone) part number is 19273. Other part stores should be able to cross reference it. I will say this- the internals of the factory GT relays are MUCH HEAVIER DUTY than the ones I bought, so try to replace them with factory ones as soon as you can. Ill try to find out what brand they are from the factory so maybe we can find a local supplier if you get in a bind. Let me sum this up by saying the damage was absolutely my fault, the lid that covers the relay was not on tight. The other relay was tied to the bad one and had no corrosion on it all.

thanks,
rod

Stupid mbr hybrid piece of shit.

Haven't seen the relays gt uses, but we just use a standard single pole double throw bosch relay for just about everything we do and hardly ever have issues. Bosch is the best, imo. Autozone probably sells some chinese knock off. Unless its some kinda high current deal, the regular old bosch should work fine. Good luck with the tyco's too.
