I just keep finding surprises... Whats up with my heads?
I am rebuilding a 23 HP Briggs Vanguard and pulled my heads off to inspect everything, I am considering sending them off to get worked. With that said, I pulled them off and found this on the intake side, both heads are like this, almost identical pattern. I am hoping this is just part of the manufacturing process or casting process, never seen this before. Is this some kind of flow cut or indication I have problems? Someone educate me please..

Re: I just keep finding surprises... Whats up with my heads?
That is my plan. What are my options for exhaust for a 23hp? I have seen BPS but I don't like how high the muffler sits above the engine, I run a lot of timber. I could have one built at my company's fab-shop but I don't know how much of a performance muffler that will turn out to be, they will basically copy my factory exhaust minus baffles. Any suggestions?

The best one for the 23 is the Crossover, I mean i have heard of the MM being fabed up for one but you would have to call dan at MM on that one

I have a stock Briggs muffler the sits on the starboard side of the engine with manifold. Not high flow but is low profile. Just sitting in a box. I have the crossover loud-as-hell muffler. It sounds like I'm going 100 mph.
