 Moose identification
During moose season, this year, I taught the younger hunters in camp (they are all younger than me) how to tell the sex and size of a moose by close observation of their droppings. Near camp, we found a fresh pile of moose nuggets. (They are about 5 times the size of deer pellets) I picked one up, popped it into my mouth and told everyone it was from a bull. The reaction was, OH YUCK! how can you tell that? I explained that if the nugget tasted high in testosterone it was from a bull. If it was high in estrogen it was from a cow. I further explained that this particular bull was about 5 years old and had a 45 inch rack based on the level of testosterone. Since some didn't seem to believe me I challenged them to try it in the interest of becoming smarter hunters. A couple did take some tentative licks and one actually said he could taste the testosterone. The second said it just tasted like shit to him. I agreed and told him he appeared to be getting smarter already as I took another chocolate covered almond from my pocket and popped it into my mouth.
If you are a Whitetail hunter this works well with chocolate covered raisins.
