 Dual exhaust cracked
After I started looking at my motor with the problems last night I noticed this. Bee Pee S Dual exhaust. 36 hours on them. How nice is this? And I'm sure it's not helping the performance. LOL!

 Re: Dual exhaust cracked
36 Hours? WOW!! Why do they look like they pitted rust already? I thought they were stainless.

 Re: Dual exhaust cracked
my buddies did the same thing with low low hours.. im guessing its from the low alloy stainless and it being thinner material. he just welded his back up n bolted em back on.
You know anybody with a lil welder that could run a bead over that for ya?

 Re: Dual exhaust cracked
They damn sure charged me for stainless. Time to change exhaust I guess. Thinking about the MM with the baffles. I'd like to stay as quiet as possible.

 Re: Dual exhaust cracked
That's crazy. I can put 36 hours on my rig in 2-3 months. Then you have to deal with this with the exhaust? I would be making some calls bud before I purchased new exhaust for another $400-550 IMO.

 Re: Dual exhaust cracked
For $500 none of them. I'm back to running gutted stock exhaust if it cracks or breaks do another one!

 Re: Dual exhaust cracked
He's back to running a gutted stocker IIRC, Smoke. Bottom line is, they'll all break. I've had good luck with my EVT, but it was broken when I got it (second hand). My Dad has had good luck with his crossover too, but people have had problems with both of those too. Keeping a spare around and making friends with a welder might be a good idea. *well shit, captain fatfingers beat me to the punch.

 Re: Dual exhaust cracked
The vibration from the motors will break any of the mufflers out there as Terry said. There are more BpS mufflers on modded motors out there than any other...just normal you hear about them breaking more. I would have it welded and run the hell outta it. I would also like something that is a little less noisy especially for hunting. It sounds like a Harley Davidson Rally when I leave out. I don't mind in the offseason for assing around but its not ideal for trying to scout for birds.

That sucks. Ive had my duals for 200+ hours and not had a problem. Im afraid to change to a different one cause of all the problems out there.

 Re: Dual exhaust cracked
I've had 2 Marsh Mellows 1 single outlet (original) which I sold and 1 dual which I still have. There are no restrictions on mine and I have not had a single issue. It has been installed the entire time I've had my mods. Almost 2 years now. The exhaust itself has never had an issue with cracking. Now, I did have the brackets finally crack on my motor that hold the exhaust on. This was due to the vibration, which Terry was referencing in his post regarding the modded motor being a cause for short muffler life. Just FYI I contacted Dan & some new pieces showed up in the mail 2 days later.

 Re: Dual exhaust cracked
They ALL crack and break and fall apart. I haven't seen any on the market that at least a handful of people have had issues with. That being said, Dan at MM seems to stand behind his products. I have not talked to anyone who was disappointed with the CS at marshmellow and the only time I've dealt with him, he got me what I needed and got it to me on time.

 Re: Dual exhaust cracked
Stainless steel is alloyed with nickle and chromium among other things. This gives it the greater resistance to corrosion but it still contains carbon. The hotter the application the more the carbon is drawn to the surface where it reacts with the oxygen in the air causing, obviously rust. I don't care what grade of stainless you use it will rust. Some will resist is longer than others but it will all rust. When you see it change from the golden color to blue to purple the next step is gray and that is the carbon precipitating to the surface.....next step is rust.

 Re: Dual exhaust cracked
Ends cut off. The flat piece that you see, don't go nuts trying to bust the welds. I started using a screwdriver and hammer trying to break the welds loose. They were solid and had I continued I would have pulled a hole in the side of the can. Just take your time.
End result. Weld the ends back on and be proud you saved a dollar or three.
