 Exhaust
I've heard about people taking the stock exhaust and gutting it out to make it louder. I believe it's louder but does it sound good or completely like shit?

 Re: Exhaust
after doin some thinking about this i think i've decided to go ahead and gut mine vs. an expensive aftermarket exhaust. will i expect to see noticeable gains with a stock motor and exhaust done like this? increase in top speed? just wondering if the baffles bogg it down that much. Thanks for any info.

 Re: Exhaust
It finally clicked the other AM looking at your pics Med. the flat piece you were talking about is the center baffle. For some reason I thought it was the other end cap. Thanks for the help and posting the pics.

 Re: Exhaust
Hey I am thinking of doing my stock exhaust on my motor. I have a few questions and hope you guys can help me out before I get started. One is my motor only has about 3 hrs on it . Should I wait til after break in before I do this? Also will there be any significant changes as of engine trouble or problems? What exactly is the baffles for? I just want to make sure it doesn't create any problems later in engine life. Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks

 Re: Exhaust
As far as I know it won't hurt anything. You might gain some rpms but thats about it. A more free flowing exhaust is just a stepping stone for future engine mods and needs to be done before anything else. What motor you running?

 Re: Exhaust
With those motors if the baffles break loose any slag or crap will fall back into your motor because of how the exhaust is positioned. I would say it would be a good idea to get an aftermarket pipe of you want to spend some money or just go ahead and gut the one you have.

 Re: Exhaust
Thanks for the advise Med. I notice one guy said you have to cut the outlet pipe too. Is that true and if so how much do you cut off? I've already gutted the exhaust so if I need to cut the outlet pipe before welding back up I would appreciate the info. Thx

 Re: Exhaust
I am in the process of gutting a stock PD exhaust for a friend. What is the best way to get the second baffle out? I have the first one almost out, but the second one looks like its going to be more difficult. Any help would be awesome.
I am going to change the outlet pipe to a open ended piece of 1-1/4" stainless sch 10. I think that this will make it more free flowing.

 Re: Exhaust
Well if u don't cut the exit pipe then it's still all cocked up cause all the free flow u made buy cutting all the baffles out now has to squeeze threw that capped pipe with the only way out is them preforations!!!!!!!!

 Re: Exhaust
has anyone left the baffle plates in just cut out all the perforated tubes?? i was thinkin leave the plates in, stretch the hole out a bit and remove the tubes with a hole saw, and add a bigger exit pipe. whenever i get brave enough or find a stocker i can chop up for r&d ima try it just curious if anyone else has already?
