Don't know how you would do a full roller set up with the way lifters are on the briggs. I guess you could machine the block? Don't really see how it would be worth your while.

The cams and lifters are available for the kohlers.

I don't know a whole lot about this shit, but I'm assuming you would need to use roller lifters with a roller cam (as that seems to be the whole point, nothing really different about the cam itself except the grind?)and I just don't see how you would get a set of lifters to work without a metric shit ton of block work.

got it, reason i asked is a friend of mine builds hot rod motors etc. I was discussing the briggs engine with him and performance parts etc and he stated if you could get a performance roller cam with the roller rockers etc that it would be awesome compared to regular setup

(hot rod) as in v8 motors, not hot rod small engines

All that shit makes minimal difference. Your talking a couple hp on a HUGE hp engine. It ain't worth it to gain .0000333333333% more hp on a 35-36 hp engine. Having the valve train ride on rollers will make a little bit less friction and in turn just a touch less wasted power. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the way I understand it. When I was just getting into the mod thing and tinkering with my kohler, I thought I wanted all that shit and was talked out of it by more than one person who was actually selling the parts. You just won't see the return on it.

When you are racing and already building 10-15-20k engines, what's a few extra bucks or even another grand to possibly free up a little more power? Only fractions of a second difference can mean the difference between a big payout or not so it may be worth it to them. To us, just show up five minutes earlier and you ain't gotta worry about fractions of a second and get to keep a shit load of money in your pocket...I'm not even sure how you would make it work on a briggs anyway.

They have lots of old Small blocks with flat tappet cam lifters that made big power..No need for hydraulic roller lifters in this engine. Plus the machining blah blah... Not worth it to maybe fuck up a block trying.

Thanks cody! I knew the cams were usually bigger, and figured it would be way more work than it was worth. Didn't realize how much work you'd have to do on the heads though, figured it would just be block work.
