small push fan for mahh boat
I'm throwing the idea around about building a small push fan for my 1751 excel F4 MB35HD with tiller, and i was wondering what you guys thot about building a push pole deck, mounting a stationary fan approx 16 hp 32 in prop, and steering like you would have on an air boat. I know one that turn 360 would allow you to back up, but i don't have reverse any way why start now. i don't want to have to beef up the fan stand to take the forces of the fan spinning around. Also removeable is preferred since this is my only boat and not my only passion. Its just a thought. All input is welcomed.

Re: small push fan for mahh boat
what size boat do you have, if too narrow it may be to much weight in the back

Re: small push fan for mahh boat
without reverse on the fan i just assume run the mm for bowfishing. only down fall to running a mm is it muddy's the water. On the flip side if i am bowfishing and i see an island i wanna go over to get in a pocket i just gas it. Running a fan most likely won't do that

Re: small push fan for mahh boat
its hard to run the mm and shoot, i fish alot by myself. the troller sucks i hate having to keep getting her outta the mud. I could reduce weight with a smaller motor. i think my boat is 17' 51''. lol

Re: small push fan for mahh boat
the rigging to do this ^ for your motor is gonna be about the same for remote steering for a fan. All you need is a MB set up for CC and teleflex. Then the rest would be running another control box and throttle. I have seen it done on a prodrive but never a mudbuddy. However, where there is a will, there is a way

Re: small push fan for mahh boat
Shit you don't even need all that. Could do a set up like DDM had on his old rig. Just a ram to push the motor back and fourth.

Re: small push fan for mahh boat
Na, it's a real simple set up. You shouldn't have any trouble getting it set up.
