Gator tail vs pro drive weight?

 Gator tail vs pro drive weight?So what's the deal with the big weight difference, pro drive weighs a fair amount more. Is the gear drive the big differnce?

Re: Gator tail vs pro drive weight? Yeah, it is about 40 lbs heavier if I remember correctly.
It is because it has more bulky mounting brackets, gearcases and shafts. vs a square tubing belt housing and a rubber band. Re: Gator tail vs pro drive weight? I went from a 23 gdsd to a 36 prodrive and there was no noticeable change in the way my boat drafted, boat is a 17x48. I wouldn't worry about it
