my boat is at gator tail getting stage 1 and stage 2 i was wondering if i should just set the govenor to the rpms i wanted to turnat full throttle or max it out and just let off the throttle so where the motor wont be maxed i want to run it about 4000-4100 i think thats a safe zone but i know it can turn upwards of about 4500 after all the mods just dont want it to blow up

Is it a cdi

With the stock governer in tact I have my motor spinning 4350 in neutral. It will get up to about 4250 with nothign in the boat and a little wear on prop... If you have a CDI motor the stock coils limit you to 4300 ish anyway.

They told me it would turn more so I guess it's not a Cdi it's a 2009 motor

If you keep stock carb (stage one) turn governor up all the way it will be close to 4500 as long as that governor is their I wouldn't worry about it. Stage 2 is aftermarket carb get you a rev box
