Having trouble starting motor when hot
I have a 2007 35 Mudbuddy with IM heads, Single carb, and dual exhaust. Lately, after running my motor for a long period of time at high RPM's (say 4000 for 30 minutes or more) the motor does not want to start back up. I have to let it cool off for 15 minutes or so and it will crank right up. Is this a coil problem? my valves are set correctly and the motor runs like a top otherwise. Also I have disconnected the oil sensor and it does not make a difference. I also have pumped my bulb and it does not make a difference. It stays primed. I know this has been asked about before but it doesnt seem like anyone has a real fix for it. Thanks

Could this be vapor lock? Is there any way to fix that?

Re: Having trouble starting motor when hot
Have you tried disconnecting the rev box?

Nope, no issue here, but have on several occasions had issues with em. Just trying to narrow down the man's problem, so he can be on water for duck season.

Re: Having trouble starting motor when hot
Just joking with you... seriously though, does the motor turn slow when it's hot or is it turning fast and just not firing up? If it's slow, could be the battery not juicing the started enough.

Ya. Sorry. Forgot to mention. Rev box is disconnected. An it spins fast just doesn't start. Could this be vapor lock

Re: Having trouble starting motor when hot
Sounds like possibly grounding out a wire. Check to see if any show signs of melted insulation. Might be getting hot when engine temp rises & grounds to engine somewhere.
Or yeah, possible bad coil. I'd just look everything else over first, before dropping $120-150 for new coils.

Re: Having trouble starting motor when hot
vapor lock is easy to diagnose. remove fuel line. prime the bulb again if it fires up probly a vapor lock. break the line apart at the bulb not the carb. for safety sakes. can u confirm a good spark at restart.
