16 ft. Polarkraft needs a mud motor! Ideas on H.P.?
I am new to this mud motor discussion and plan on building a long tail for my jon boat. What horsepower should I be looking at for a 16 ft. that will typically haul two guys, dog, and gear? Will also have a third guy from time to time. I don't need to skip across the water, but don't like getting passed by everyone else either.
Also, the transom has been reinforced with 5/16" aluminum, so this should help with weight issues I assume.
Thanks.

The biggest hp your wallet can afford as long as the transom can hold it.
