I am looking at buying a new boat for my mini 23 sd . Currently I am looking at maybe a 1438 hd ( 15'6 " ) gatortrax , what's yalls opinion on best fit. Also could this rig handle a 35 hp sd if later I decide to upgrade motor. Thanks

should be fine. it would hall some holly ass with a 35.

I'm having a custom one being built now for my 23hp by InstaGator911 on here. All .100 at 1748 or 1746. We still up in air on width i think. Builds a fine damn boat for a competitive rate. Look him up on here.

Get atleast a 44 inch bottom, I ran a 23 in a 17x48 and it did great

For the smaller SD like the 23, longer is better. That mini weighs little to nothing so even all 1/8 44 wide will work well then 16-18 foot will carry a load better.

We are Testing a 23 GTR on a heavy 1648 with 3/16 bottom today. Will post about that later.

we just built this boat for a customer who has a mini 27 and with him, battery, and gas tank in the back with not much else in the boat he is getting consistent 24-25 out of it and its a pretty big and heavy boat. He should see a little better if he moves the gas tank up front.

Thanks for the info, definitely want yalls success stories of length and width of boat with that size motor . I want to keep light with little inside weight of luxurie boxes. Just me , my dog , a friend and couple decoys. I'm liking the 1644 size also , and if it's not to much weight 1644 with hunt deck. Small front deck , 1 batterie , gas tank up front , small driver seat with storage lid , and passenger seat in middle a yeti cooler with padded seat. Plus trolling motor bracket in front for fishing season. Would like to hear similar combo speeds with 2 people and dog thanks........

That's a good looking boat u built like the spud hole idea too.

Ran 1648 - 3/16 bottom w/24" sides today with 23 GTR (has cross over exhaust everything else stock)

With me (180) and battery in rear, half tank gas in front, boat ran 22.5 into the wind and 24.5 with the wind.

With same weight plus the GF and new pup (200 lbs combined) boat still ran 22.

Tried stepping a 4 man load and it wasn't happening.
