 10hp Dixie mm
Just bought a 10hp mm from Dixie for my 1979 14 ft Jon boat... First off let me say that the customer service is first class! The motor is awesome, pushes me and another 18mph in thin water and 16-17mph in deeper vwater. The response on the throttle is amazing, I am very pleased with this product.

 Re: 10hp Dixie mm
First of all welcome to this great forum.
I am also a newbie to this mud motor arena.
I also own a Dixie mud motor. In my opinion it’s an incredible value for your money. They are built extremely well. They utilize the best components and are a breeze to work on.
Ben is a great guy. I absolutely love my Dixie mud motor. I plan on upgrading to the 35 just after duck season in Florida.
Best of luck.

 Re: 10hp Dixie mm
I live in FL,got my DMM about 3 weeks ago. Its a 23hp. Ben is a very good guy I met him in person when I picked up my motor,he's just hard to get ahold of. Prob. Because hes backlogged by 60 motors or so. Just make sure your constantly checking your nuts and bolts id reccomend using some threadlocker on them

 Re: 10hp Dixie mm
Mine arrived at the shipping place yesterday and I went and picked it up. Funny shipping guys were like "do you mount it on the front of the boat?" I just laughed. They didn't understand you just flip the handle around since its packed like that for shipping.
Very happy with the quality of the surface drive. I'll be taking it out this weekend most likely into some skinny water and test it out. I own a 6hp Stumpjumper longtail so ill see how they compare but I'm sure this will be quite the upgrade.

 Re: 10hp Dixie mm
I have the same motor...while I am happy with the performance , I had an issue with the mount over the weekend. I travel 2 and half hours to my lease......then about three miles through some pretty tough terrain.... Apparantly the ride there made the two 1/2 inch bolts wobble out and "strip"........the motor actually fell off the boat on the trail road. Now, don't get me wrong.....I like the motor, but I am having to re-tap the two bolt holes. It's fairly poor design. could be deeper and maybe made of steel, not sure.........I think it will be fine during the season, but the little tike will be riding in back the truck on the way home.

 Re: 10hp Dixie mm
Just hung up with Ben .........guy called me direct after a member here asked for my number.......we worked it out.........found the real issue and I cannot be more impressed.
I run a relatively large company......not bragging just putting into perspective......and I can tell you customer service like this rarely exist.
Kudo's Dixie.......nice form.

 Re: 10hp Dixie mm
I’ve experienced Dixie’s Customer service first hand. Ben will step up and make it right. I’m a very happy Dixie mud motor owner.
I think what defines a great company is how they resolve issues. Dixie mud motors will continue to evolve and grow as a company.

 Re: 10hp Dixie mm
Ben, it's no surprise to me that he made it right for you guys.... Being a relatively new company once he gets these small tweaks worked out here and there their product will be highly sought after! I'll be making another phone call to Dixie after this season to upgrade....

 Re: 10hp Dixie mm
i have a Q's, was the unit strap down to trailer or boat down this bumpy road and where you at mock speed while driving all bullsh.t aside ,did you have it straped down or was it hanging out there in the wind because if it was straped down i can't see it jumping and dancing on the back of the boat if the trailer was all over the place the unit would move with the trailer sounds to me like someone forgot to strap it but i know how it is rev up to go kill some ducks

 Re: 10hp Dixie mm
The issue I had was ........... When buying the motor direct from Dixie there is an information package that clearly recommends the owner to bolt through the transom. I did not recieve that package from the dealer I purchased from. The dealer did me a great job in turning around a motor in the time frame I needed, we just missed the finer details of the transaction in our haste. Ben is aware of the minimulist design on the bracket and that is why the suggestion is made. Clearly this company has a vision of supplying a small horse power surface drive for under a certain price.........so to stay under that bar, certain decisions are made.........this on one.
The motor was strapped down (obviously not good enough) and it was the strap that kept it from getting damaged. Had in not been there.......well who knows what would have happened.
I firmly believe in this motor and the company. I am not puposedly trying to be vague, I am trying to give an honest experience without throwing Ben and Dixie or my dealer under the bus. Sometimes, stuff just happens..........like a previous poster mentioned, it's how it's responded to that make the difference......in this case the difference was made in a positive way.
If you want to talk to me in person 225-313-7543 is my business cell.
I will add, that with Ben's attiturde towards customer service, the only thing that may cause him harm is crappy people that will take advantage of his generous spirit. What he wanted to do to solve my isssue was WAY more than needed and I can see some greedy bastards taking him up on those offers.

 Re: 10hp Dixie mm
Good to hear that everything is cleared up. I think some people just can't get over the fact that its not a Pro Drive or Mud Buddy so they are quick to bash something that costs significantly less.
More importantly, how does it run on your boat? And I think everyone wants to see a picture of it mounted and let us know how its working for you.
