Post Boat Buying ????'s
I am getting ready to order a new boat from Gator Tail and I have a few questions and want to make sure I am not missing anything before I place my order. We (wife and I, she loves to hunt and fish) will be traveling to Gator Tail next month to place this order and see their operation and boats first hand. This will be my first SD boat but nowhere near my first boat I have owned or operated. I live near Houston so my use will consist of river, lake, and bay hunting and fishing. I will be financing this through my credit union so I want to include most things in the purchase price. I am looking at getting 18x60 extreme hull, 35GTR, extended front deck, trolling motor (salt water), shark eye LED nav lights, camo paint, GPS, aluminum trailer, hydro turf, running lights, LED courtesy lights (I will install later), and cat walks. Let me know if I am missing anything and respond to the question below. I know everyone their likes and dislikes on Gator Tail but it is what I am going to get so if you really feel the need to bash go right ahead. I have also entertained getting a 20x60 or 20x72 with duals, so if anyone can give a solid realistic price on that option please do as I haven’t talked to GT about this yet. I am trying to stay under 25K but might go just a little over that. I am asking these questions here as ya’ll are the experts (heads swelling) and I have been reading and coming to this site for over a year and want some honest opinions.

Consol or tiller, pros/cons based on the usage described above?????
4” or 6”cat walks?
Rod/gun storage built into the cat walks?
Hydro turf in camo or solid color?
Running lights from GT or aftermarket put on by me?
Camo panit for the boat which pattern?
Salt water trolling motor dipped to camo, anyone done that?

duals great for a load does not really help speed
console long runs , tiller easer to work in the mud
i have had bad luck with hydro turf , some say the diamond pattern holds up better
camo what ever matches yer area
trolling motor i would use a quick mount take off in hunting season
let them install lights , and wiring for later
if u huntwith a dog a ladder would be nice
AND I WOULD ADD A WINCH MOUNT AND WIRING
hunt deck ?
if u go with console get hydro steering
thanks
mac

Highly recommend a hunt deck and yes I have had different Hydro Turf patterns and the grey diamond seems to hold up much better than the others. I sent you a pm about the duals. Peraonaly if I was going with duals it would be 20/72 because of the weight of the motors I would want more surface area.

Tomball is only about an hr & 1/2 from me. If you want to test ride, give me a shout.
20' Dual rig is gonna go well over $30k with all options you're wanting.
Keep in mind, the more options you add now, you'll pay taxes on.
1860, sides flared out with beam like a 1872
Get the drop deck (also doubles as dog ladder, pissing platform, & fat boy ladder)
Console vs Tiller - I agree with meterman mac
Hydroturf - Gray diamond is what they usually put in & it's plenty tough enough
8" catwalks with built in rod storage
Removeable decking (have a deck over for fishing, take it out for hunting)
LED shark eye running lights
I like the Gator Grass camo pattern for my area, but the Nat Gear camo with some grass overlay looks pretty sweet
Trolling motor - put it on quick connects & take it off during hunting season
Spud poles
Winch mount
Motor - 35 GTR with Hoyt's or Calen's Stage 1

The extreme hull comes with a drop/hunt deck according to their website. Forgot about the spud poles/holes and winch mouunt. I didnt think about motor mods yet!

Team Camo I might just take you up on that offer could help decide a few things.

Thanks for yall the replies so far.

Click the "viewtopic" link in my signature...mine is a 17x54 and i love it...definitely go with the center console...i started with a tiller and then converted...best decision ever!!! I don't run the mud that the S. LA guys do...i'm mostly rivers and sloughs. I like having the boxes on both sides as well...i like being able to lock up a bunch of crap and not worry about it...I'm ready to go at any time! Great guys down at Gator-tail. Kyle and Hoyt will take care of your for sure!
