 seat base help??
Ok guys, I'm needing some help for ideas on seats for my boat when using the blind. I have a 1854 gator trax with a MB HD6000. I have a homemade pop-up blind for it and I was thinking of installing 3 seat bases down the middle of the boat on the floor. My first thoughts were to just buy some cheap folding directors chairs but they just aren't quite tall enough (seat height 15") and I can't really find anything I like any taller. So now I'm thinking of putting 3 bases on the floor and use 15" seat poles with 3 swivel seats with backs which I already have. My concerns are the spacing of the braces in the boat not matching up with the holes in the seat bases. Also, Gator trax said I would have to shave some off the base and the pole so it doesn't poke through the floor. Has anyone done this and would be able to give some advice or direction? Maybe even pics of how y'all did it?? The help would be greatly appreciated. Plan on tackling this sometime this week.

 Re: seat base help??
Portable seat bases are the shiznit. You could probably have them built any height you want. Ours are.13 to the base and 15 to the bottom of the seat. Put them where you want for the way you are hunting that day. Don't need them, leave em at home... Permanent mounts never seem to be where you want them and if you shorten the base, you will break the extensions.

 Re: seat base help??
Gatortail sells some, don't know the heights on them. My dad got those from sko at Cajun Performance. I know they quit building boats, but don't know if they would build a set of seats or not. I'm sure any boat builder or fabricator could build you a set though. I ripped off the dimensions from those and built a set just like them for my boat. I could post all the pics of measurements that my dad sent me if you want to build or have someone build some for you.
I see you are in Shreveport...I know a guy in Atlanta, TX and a guy in Marshall. I'm sure either of them could throw a set together for you. Shoot me a pm if you want the info for either of them.

 Re: seat base help??
Someone else pm'd for dimensions so I figured I'd just go ahead and post them all here. These are all the pics I was sent. I think some are redundant, but either way, should give you a pretty good idea. I built mine with the exact measurements. Order the pedestal bases for the tops from hillside castings! http://www.hillsidecastings.com/

 Re: seat base help??
Just use an old jack stand with a pipe welded to it and get the post base for the bottom of the seat. Should work pretty good!

They have great pricing and fast shipping too. They used to be a sponsor but must not have renewed. Couldn't find them on the sponsor page...
No problem on the pics.

 Re: seat base help??
The other bases are a little more expensive, but they are quite a bit sturdier. I looked at ^all of those before going the other route. Also, if u use them outside of the boat, the spider bases will sink in the mud. The big suface area on the others is nice and keeps you a lot more stable and up out of the water. Jmo

 Re: seat base help??
Guys I really appreciate y'alls feedback. Lots of good ideas. I have some crappy little chairs that I can use for now but I think I'll end up going with something like you have CB versus something permanent. I'm also up in Shreveport so I may have to give you a shout for your buddy's contact info over in Marshall to have them made. Thanks again gents.
PS-I know this is the wrong thread for this but if anybody has some good duck huntin holes down south I've got a boat...PM me if interested
