 decoy spread?
How big of a spread yall putting out? Big, small, motion, no motion? I was just curious to see some different strategies, I know things change as the season winds down.

 Re: decoy spread?
Yeah I've been getting the flaring from the mojo, depends on the area though.

 Re: decoy spread?
My typical bag consists of 2doz mallards and a handful of teal. Depending my location, I'll hunt more or less. And sometimes I use 6 teal total. But I always use water motion.
And sometimes I use mojos too!

 Re: decoy spread?
Guess I'm the odd one. I throw out a min of 6 dozen. Use jerk cords . Mojos suck . Especially for big ducks. Has worked well for us . We've shot 150 ducks in 6 hunts

 Re: decoy spread?
Gessh I'd get tired of putting decoys out with as much as y'all use. I wouldn't want to be y'all hunting buddy. After 2 dozen I'm good

3 yard gnomes, 5 pink flamingo yard ornaments, 2 dozen water turkeys, 3 penguin mojos, an aflac swimmer (Screams aflac after one complete circle), and 3 Emu feeders. Works awesome

 Re: decoy spread?
I'd like to get 3-4 dozen coots and and maybe 1 or 2 duck decoys. Seems like the ducks here always wanna land in a group of coots.

 Re: decoy spread?
2 dozen coots 4 mallards. Work great next to a patch of tall grass setting on a swamp seat. Feet to Jesus everytime.

 Re: decoy spread?
I usually use 2doz mallards, a 1/2 doz gw teal and about a 1doz wood duck (set off to the side and in small groups) decoys. No mojos and occasionally I will through out a vibrating duck butt. This is my main swamp set up. It appears I am the odd ball with the wood duck decoys, but it seems to work. They will swim right up to them if I let them.

 Re: decoy spread?
a dozen or so coots close to blind then depending on pond, 12-18 teal, 6-12 grey and 2-6 pintails, with quivers for water motion....mojo isnt working after sun comes up, sucking them in in the first 20-30 minutes of shooting time then we pull them......

 Re: decoy spread?
this year I've used 2 dozen mixed teal and mallards with a mojo for the first month. Now I'm moving around trying to find the X. For the X, i put out 1 mallard hen, 1 mallard drake, 1 spoonie, NO MOJO, and if theres no wind I put one of those cracker barrel wobblers in the mallard drake

 Re: decoy spread?
2 dozen old school flambeau teal, a dozen old school flambeau pintail drakes (from the 80's haha), 6 older flambeau mallard hens, and two sets of mallard surface feeder jerk rigs. The older decoys are a whole lot lighter. Easier to carry and cuts down on weight in the boat. When we boat in and dont have to walk, I use the same decoys plus a dozen ghg pintails, dozen Dakota mallards, half dozen ghg spoonies, and a dozen ghg gwt. Mojos during teal season only. I like the pintails cause there are a lot of them around here and increases visibility. Plus those Dakota's are huge and can be seen from a distance

 Re: decoy spread?
Depends where I hunt. On a big lake about 1-2 dz mallards, dz gwt & bwt, 6 gaddys, 6 woodys, 1 gadwall mojo, floater mallard drake, drake super mojo on 8 ft extended pole, rig em right jerk rig, and good ole Super paddle wheel wonder duck and buying the butt up wonder duck soon and about a dz honker floaters. (still in the process of buying more)

 Re: decoy spread?
I would try layout blinds or something instead of that big boat though.

You cant sit in lawn chairs with a heater goin cookin breakfast in a layout blind. We was pickin up we had some branches around the boat while we were hunting. It just looks like a big brush pile.
