 Re: decoy spread?
I've seen blinds on Catahoula where there are 2000+ decoys out.

 Re: decoy spread?
I have out about 150 decoys at my blind. But if I'm wade hunting I usually have 60 or so.

 Re: decoy spread?
Puddle ducks: 18 mallards (swivel heads and feeder/skimmers), 6 woodies, 6 goose floaters, mojo
Divers: 24 bluebills, 6 cans and 6 ringbills out in front and then usually 12 mallards (maybe 6 in a couple pockets off the the sides by shore).

 Re: decoy spread?
Catahoula is a public lake as mentioned. Very heavily hunted 100+ blinds. The name of the game, evidently, is to have the biggest spread in order to attack the ducks. A lot of people, as I understand (I've never hunted there, but it's around where I'm from and I used to to hunt a lease right across the levee), use 2 liter bottles painted black as a cheap way to add to their numbers. Decoys are left out all season, but still, that's a lot of work. I guess you do what you have to if you've got no other options and want to hunt!

 Re: decoy spread?
They kill 10x more ducks than you or me with them.
I know some guys that have always hunted down there, they can't explain why it works so good it just does.

 Re: decoy spread?
Another thing that makes me scratch my head, there are approximately 800 blinds on that lake an average of 200 yards apart and 99% of them are brushed with pine tree limbs. Mind you this is in the wide open or on the edge of buckbrush.
I dunno how they kill ducks, but they do!

 Re: decoy spread?
actually 300 yards is the very minimum distance apart, any closer than that and you will have an issue

 Re: decoy spread?
If anyone has the Edge Expedite series of roboducks, how do you like them? I had bought 2 teal and used them a few times. Really didn't notice them helping. I find the wings didn't flash like the Mojos. So I made my own wings with plastic cardboard and rods. Cut them into the same shape as the mojo wings, inserted the rod and filed it down to fit the motor connection on my roboteal. Works and looks just like a mojo teal. Much more wing action and it seems to work better.

 Re: decoy spread?
I have the super wonderduk. I love it. Easy to set out and sure puts some motion on the water. I'll be either adding another pintail twister or a hen mallard feeder by wonderduk. Call them up, they were excellent help and shipped mine out at 4pm on Saturday. Excellent product/excellent service.
