 Carb Upgrade
What's done about the governor setup and linkage when you go from a stock carb to a Mikuni?

 Re: Carb Upgrade
There is a part that goes on it to keep it locked WFO I believe. Hence the need for a rev limiter.

 Re: Carb Upgrade
The BPS kit has an aluminum block clamp with an arm on it to lock the governor shaft on the top of the motor fully CCW, basically disengaged.

 Re: Carb Upgrade
Funny you should mention that cause I was thinking the same thing. Somw way you could lock that existing arm at a specific location depending on the RPM you want?

 Re: Carb Upgrade
You could do it with a spring and a kill switch. From what I have been told the governor arm is activated by oil pressue of some sort. The arm pulls the throttle closed it doesn't stop the enine internally. Thats why there are so many springs on the stock linkage. Springs with different tensions pull against each other until the governor lever pulls on one harder than the others to "let off the gas". If you had a certain tension spring and a micro switch the spring could hold the lever from activating the switch(that would be connected to the kill switch) which would kill spark (same as fancy rev limiter) It would take some experimenting but is definitely doable and could be easily adjusted with a small bracket once the proper strength spring is found.

 Re: Carb Upgrade
The current electronic rev limiter being sold is the Rube Goldberg version.
