 GENERAC ENGINES
I was wondering what everyone thought of the Generac Engines. According to the specs the Generac will out perform about any stock engine in the same hp range. I know B&S owns Generac as well. Here is the specs sheet link for the 32 hp generac. http://www.generac.com/publicPDFs/0171740SBY.pdf

 Re: GENERAC ENGINES
EVT - Mike Bingham ---was also saying that he felt there was great potential in that generac engine about 6 or 8 months back.....
As well as potential for modding it as well.... Bet he has done a few since then - you might want to give him a call if that is what you are considering....

 Re: GENERAC ENGINES
My generac was a great little engine. It had alot of tourque, but not a speed demon. The thing that most dis-like about the genny was the carburetor wasn't the greatest desighn for this type application.

 Re: GENERAC ENGINES
They aren't real user friendly without mods. As others have said, huge torque and will push the load. You can learn the nuances of the motor and run it effectively. Personal choice- but run one if you can before deciding. Good luck.

 Re: GENERAC ENGINES
Also, not a lot of aftermarket parts out there to mod them as well.
Much more flexibilty with the Briggs.

 Re: GENERAC ENGINES
Building one for the mini airboat right now. Got rollers, springs, valves, cam, p-rods, conn. rods, pistons, intake, carb and will build a custom exhaust for it. It will be a beast of a short stroke big bore motor. We did do one on a Prodrive last year that run 38mph on a 1844 Gatortrax hull. Guy said it would haul anything he put in it. I will keep you posted. Airboat that we are building is a 12X7.

 Re: GENERAC ENGINES
How much you willing to put up on those odds. They all break modded or not. Over 100 modded motors out of this shop with less than a dozen problem childs. I would say that is a pretty good percentage. Most problems came from the Briggs parts not the EVT parts.

 Re: GENERAC ENGINES
Last time I checked someone in Japan builds thatengine and the stock parts that come with them. Because of those 4 out of 100 + cams that failed we no longer use their service. Heck with all the new FE engine builders on here now someone should have the cure all for any and every problem these little motors have stock or modded. We are all ears....

 Re: GENERAC ENGINES
Where are Generac generators made? Generac generators are made in the United States. Manufactured by Generac Power Systems, Inc. in one of four manufacturing facilities in Wisconsin and Iowa, they design and build their complete product from the controls to the enclosures, to their air-cooled engines specifically designed for generators. This ensures that Generac products are built to our highest standards http://www.twegen.com/index.php?id=resfaq

 Re: GENERAC ENGINES
Why does everyone come on here and just start talking chit to each other. I am thinking about using a generac engine for my build and wanted to know what people thought of the engine.

 Re: GENERAC ENGINES
If these engines are so well built how come more companys don't use them. According to the specs these 32hp generac engines will about out perform a 40hp engine. Plus there cheaper

 Re: GENERAC ENGINES
But if their as built as well as what people say, whats a warranty when the engine doesn't break down. The best warranty out can't fix help an engine if the engines doesn't break down so whats a warranty if you will never use it.

 Re: GENERAC ENGINES
So it just comes down to people filling secure that they have a warranty, half the time the warranties won't cover the problem anyways.

 Re: GENERAC ENGINES
i had a generac, ran it for the first 200 hrs wif the stock carb, then put a edlebrock carb on it, removed the gov, and ran it another 218hrs till it slung a rod the second time and broke the cases. drove it back to the landing both times. it made way more torque than the brigs.
if i woulda kept the dang gov in it it probly would of lasted alot longer.
if the kholer 40's had a decent stock carb they would be the motor to get.
personally, i think the reason so many people are getting into the mm hop-up bidness is cause they charge as much to hop up a lawnmower as they do a 350 smallblock.
hopped up mudmotors = grenade motor.
it's great for clearwater pirates, but u ain't gonna go banging thru the swamp at 5000+ rpm's for long before those brigs cases giveup. i don't care wh0 builds it. now, if someone could, that would be sumthing!!!!
