face paint cracks me up every time i see someone wearing it, especialy when they draw cool designs on themselves, yuppies.........I took my little brother hunting in TX. over the xmas holidays once we were settled into the blind he started rumaging through his backpack and comenced to throwing a todler size fit in the front of my boat. I asked him what was the matter and he said in all seriousness (I forgot my face paint) even without the paint we still shot a 2 man limit mostly malards and mottleds!

I witnessed this year a group of 4 all painted up sitting in a pile of cut grass with at least 8 dozen decoys out 4 robo also. Just so happen they had their 18' white bass boat 50 yards from their setup. Sitting on the same mudflat as them. I got off step and idle by in complete amazement. Lol

This year has been the worst I've ever had. I'm still killing but it's so hit and miss it could drive you nuts. Last week my buddy bailed out at the last minute, I went alone and was covered in grays. It was a shame to waste the hunt with just one hunter. Worked over the weekend and no one did much in that area.

Went the past 2 days it was really slow, found some nice groups of birds but when I got off work this morning I decided to sleep instead of getting cold and wet just incase the birds had left with the water.

I love being out there and it will never get old it's just disheartening to see empty skies and know what I had there 10 years ago.

Oh and the kids will be out soon, the pond counts are down and dropping so lower limits and shorter days are coming!

This season has been tough. I hear ya on the empty skies dog. There have been mornings I've hunted and nothing at all was flying. Get in the boat and ride and still not see much of anything. It's hard to get up and put 50$ of fuel in the boat and truck knowing you'll probably have a shitty hunt.

I feel you. I have killed maybe 25-30 birds this year. My favorite places to hunt are covered in salvinia. Low water and to many idiots ruining hunts really turned me off this season. Just havent had the get up and go for the first time since I began hunting. To many MMs now. Beards, Drake camo and face paint in every direction. Starting to think my buddy is on to something. He stopped hunting hard in S LA 40-50 days a year and now takes 3-5 paid hunts where folks put him on limits of birds. Says in the big picture it really cost no more money than he used to spend but the hunts are all top shelf and stress less...........

I have had a normal season. Mostly hunted DGuidry's place (but further north than him). Only had one hunt this season that I came home empty. And it wasn't my fault. My buddy thought it would be okay to meet up a little later. So my 1st spot-taken, 2nd-spot taken by a faster boat, 3rd-clogged up w/ lillies. I did not even fire a shot.
But I judge this a good season b/c I was able to enjoy my self for the most part.

Still got two weekends left and my wood duck holes are at near perfect conditions.

This past saturday in Indian Bayou:

Well today was it. Shot 4, I'm done the boat is unhooked. My area is now devoid of birds and the water won't come back up quick enough to bring them back.

I hate to say this but I think I'm going to start shooting some pigs. We have a problem with them and I'm bored for now so the swine must die.

I'm done as well. Didn't even shoot today. Ran my entire lease today only jumped one group of birds on 3200 acres. Weather was perfect, water was low just no birds. Havnt been any since first split.
Boats parked gun is oiled gear is stowed.
Back to doing honey-do's.
