 1754 or 1854 PD SBX - Help!
I know this has been beat to death but I'm trying to decide between the 17' and 18' SBX boats. I'll be powering it with a PD 36. Mostly hunting just two guys. Also plan to install a blind on the boat. Any thoughts?

probably wont be a ton of difference with your normal load. Under extreme load it may hold it a small bit better.
i like even numbers.

SBX 17' is 700 lbs and the 18' is 750 lbs verses X Series 600lbs for the 17' and 625 lbs for the 18'.
You will be hurting with that stock 36 HP running with any kind of load.
Those SBX's are not made for a Stock Engine. Heavy ass hulls.

The extra foot is in the floor, go with it. I have a 17 and my buddy has an 18, if you weren't running side by side, you wouldn't notice the difference in speed. Add some money and get the stock heads custom worked and gut the exhaust, then you won't have any issue with hauling power.

Re: 1754 or 1854 PD SBX - Help!
I have a 17x54 x series haul with a 36 PD with a stage one moan. The 36 PD pushed it good as long as u didn't have over 3 people and gear. The stage one helped a lot with the bottom end an load carrying. As far as the 18 foot boat my 17 has always been plenty big enough for me an I hunt and fish out of it

I have a stock 36pd. I can hit 30 by myself. Only weigh 165-170. With 2-3 people I'm nywhere from 25-27

What is the weight difference on 17' vs 18'? That's the only thing I don't like about my 18 is that it is a friggin tank!
