 turkey hunting boots
Thought I'd inquire from you Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi spring turkey hunters. What boots do you use for turkey hunting? I have used some LaCrosse Grange boots- they are fine for the duck boat but not really for long distance walking and I'd like some snake protection (other than my shotgun and bowie knife). Some years ago I bought a pair of BPS Redhead boots which did not last very long and they leaked soon after purchase. It gets hot here in the spring (Central Florida) so definitely uninsulated. Most Rocky reviews are negative. Danners get a lot of positive thumbs up but they are pricey. Anybody use those Irish Setter snake boots? Gokey and Russell are way out of my budget. Appreciate any suggestions. Good scouting!

I hear you- the only pair of Rocky's I had also fell apart- pretty shoddy for $140- of course they were made in China. I like my Grange rubber boots but they don't breathe and get hot and are not great for long walks.

Danner makes a good boot.

 Re: turkey hunting boots
My old Rockys were great and lasted several years. I bought the Lacrosse snake boots and ruined them within one turkey season. Ill be trying the Danners this year.

Cabelas Pinnacle snake boots. Light, comfortable, waterproof. They are pricey, and can get a little warm if it is hot, but you can unzip them to ventilate.

 Re: turkey hunting boots
I have had 4 or 5 pair of Rockys, a pair of redhead & the danners. I like the danners the best. Irish setter is a good brand. I just can't speak for the snake-boot but have had several other pair that were good boots.

 Re: turkey hunting boots
Decided to go with the Lacrosse Coil Scent HD pair- $139 on sale. They have a side zip and I got tired of the lace ups and the Danner were lace ups. When I can afford a private lease I'll probably buy a pair of Russell boots.
