16X54 PRODRIVE BOAT 36HP PRODRIVE i got the boat like 2 years ago and decided it was time to buid a deck litte did i know that it was aot more work than i though but thanks to my farther who was a electrican and his frien who is a weider and my friend who is a hydro turf dealer it turned out nice way betther than the pvc rails i was thinking thanks to all it has 6 hps 150 lights but it has room for 10 lights but that might be over kill i am running a a champion 2000 watt generator inverter ,best bang for the buck,[img][img][/img][/img] and it runns all 6 on eco mode i was thinking of getting a honda inverter but i know from other boats ive been in thats the mud motor is usualy the loudest motor on the boat [img]http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o661/Jefffos/8EF2C734-550E-48BD-A08D-3EDA68DB931B-1716-0000031F5E3A1646_zpscdd3a0be.jpg[/IMG]

I think you are gona need a bigger generator once you get an invertor for charging your batteries. The 2000 Watt HPS lights may flicker real bad with a small generator like that.

I have done my home work. And they run like charm I have 2 switches under my deck so I can starting 3 lights at a time but with that being said I can start all 6 with no flickering. The lights amps drawn and generator have all been chosen for good reason. Now if I add more lights 1 day I will need to stack my generator or run. A honda eu3000

Post Re: my new bowfishing deck
HPS lights need about 5-6amps to start and then level off around 2 amps.

My 2000 W generator overloads slightly when I plug in 3 (500W) total of 1500W halogens.

Just be careful that you don't overload yours by requiring too many amps at once for startup.

These numbers can be skewed depending upon if you have a magnetic or electric ballast.

Not doubting you did your homework.

AmpsXVolts=Watts
Amps=Watts/Volts
Amps=150/120=1.25A
1.25A X 6 lights= 7.5A (Total draw after lights are hot)

No problem for a generator that size!

Now,
Add a convertor to charge troller motor battery and that will be a different story. I dont know why a guy would go to all the trouble to run lights off a generator and not charge his trolling motor and battery at the same time is all??? Plan on having extra troller batteries or not trolling much. Doesnt make much sense cause a Iota DLS 12-55 (assuming that is a 12V troller) doesn't cost much and it would allow you to fish all night providing you had enough generator to charge the battery and run the lights.

Either way nice looking rig and good luck fishing! Cant wait to see the pictures!
Do you have the stackable champion generator?

This will charge your troller is it is 12V all night long. I recommend the IQ4 charger too.

Maybe you should have spent the money on better lights. My lights have internal compasserts My lights start up drawing 2.5 amps. Roughly about 300 watts. When they warm up completely they run at about 175 watts. As I said I know nothing about. Electricity but everything was ran on a amp meter before the install. My farther has worked with electricity for 35+ years.

I don't care what the draw, amps, flicker rate, discharge rate, or the color of your neighbors piss is when he pisses out his window into your boat....that's is a damn nice and clean install. KUDOS.

Happy Fishing!!

Sorry mallard none of that was directed at you. But you are right the trolling battery is an issue I have 2 battery's for it but I hate the extra weight. So that thing you put a link up to. What is it exactly. And how does it workive never seen it before. Is it a battery bank

I wish I could say I won't need the trolling motor. But. Not every1 can drive a mud motor. And I like to shoot fish myself. So it looks like it my sometime be my only option when I want to shoot

Great setup! I would like to do the same.
Could you please post exactly what lights you have and where to buy them? I have looked online and there are a lot of choices and I know nothing about which ones to get.
Thanks in advance!

nice rig, i have the same lights but 7 of them and running a yamaha 2800i inverter. I didnt do the trolling motor thing, i just use the big motor all the time. Doesn't seem to scare the fish off too bad. It does get kind of aggravating some times when i want to shoot and my wife isnt there to drive the boat. Anyways, good looking boat.

Most people that have Bowfishing rig biggest complaint is not having enough time behind the bow. I wish I could say I'll never need to troll. Buti might depending on who I'm with and if not ,it will be there if my motor ever craps out . I have spent a long night on the water and
It's not cool with the bugs around here those damn marsh bugs around here can eat your ass up

What are the big round things under the deck connected to the lights? Im completely ignorant when it comes to anything electricity...

Also, what does an inverter do?

The round boxes are where the lights are tied together. Inverter generator is quiet and more consistent power source than a regulsr generator without surging from wat ive heard but could be wrong.

It converts AC to DC and keeps your troller battery topped off. Its kind of like a serious battery charger but it will stop charging when the battery is topped off.

Good luck!

An inverter generator typically has an engine that can be run at variable speed depending upon the load. The engine is connected to an efficient alternator whose output is converted to DC by a rectifier and smoothed somewhat by capacitors. This raw DC power is then inverted into smooth AC power of the proper frequency and voltage for the output (for example 110-120VAC 60HZ or 220-240VAC 50 or 60 HZ). Regulation is very good and the system will use less fuel if the load is small or variable since the control system will allow the engine to idle down when the load is small or throttle up when the load is large.
