Re: Hunt deck vs. no hunt deck
if you have never owned one with it take the deal, you ride and hunt from one for one season with a huntdeck and you will be wanting one. everyone that has ever rode in my boat wants a hd, most of my friends that didnt have a hd sold their boats and either have one with it or the new boat will have it. hard to know the advantages of having it until youve owned one with it. now thats just my opinion on the hd so all the non hd owners dont get all pissy

Re: Hunt deck vs. no hunt deck
hunt deck is the way to go... in a boat without its generally unused space anyway, and to me just making it easier ti get in from wading makes it more useable.

Re: Hunt deck vs. no hunt deck
Best thing ever!! Love mine and so do all the guys I hunt with (not as common up here and when they go in my boat they are blown away)
-SUPER easy for you and the dog to get in and out of the boat (especially in waders)!! -puts your weight/battery weight/passengers more towards the center of the boat for better performance -breaks waves coming over the transom -makes interior of the boat more open (especially true if that's where they put floatation)
The ONLY downside is that if you put a tiller outboard on it, you can't easily reach the handle.

It also is great for putting hogs on and keeping all that blood and shit out of boat!

Re: Hunt deck vs. no hunt deck
Depends on what your gonna use it for. Some areas we hunt is marsh. You'll sink your ass pass waders so using it to get in and out of the boat is no good for us. For the dog, yes, for me, no.

Re: Hunt deck vs. no hunt deck
I like mine, but honestly, I think I could live without it. It takes up an extra foot of the boat...but it is a nice place to piss from. I use it more as a work bench for my tools in the driveway than anything.

I would like mine better if it was open for storage. Mine is sealed & no flotation.

My current POS boat does not have a hunt deck. My new one will. Pain in the ass to get in/out.
Also a great spot to take a piss.

Re: Hunt deck vs. no hunt deck
Any opinions on here on a short vs tall transom setup if you have a hunt deck? Any advantages/disadvantages for each? Would prefer a short transom but haven't finalized boat order yet.

Re: Hunt deck vs. no hunt deck
The huntdeck saves you from.backwash from stopping so you can run a short transom no problem. I think there is a thread on here that says even on a hunt deck that a tall trans motor actually has a deeper reach? Not sure tho.

Re: Hunt deck vs. no hunt deck
I would recommend leaving your HD open , not sealed, use the space for your battery and I have my bildge in there too and have it where it dumps on the top of the HD. You can use the bildge water to keep the deck clean. All in all a deffinent plus all the way around, and yes the perfect place to take a piss out of a boat blind.

Re: Hunt deck vs. no hunt deck
i just had my first boat built and i got a HD wont have one without it!! main reason i wanted one was with 22' sides and we dont normally hunt in the boat bc we hunt timber it would be hard getting in and out the boat with out it!!! plus keeps mud out of the boat better!!! HD all the way

Are GT hunt decks sealed or can you get a gas tank put in it?
