Post 1846 stock 35 not very good speeds
I got my new rig abt a month ago and I haven't got very good speeds out of it. I'm running a 1846 gtb with a stock 35 gtr the best speed I've got has been 27 that's me (250) 1 battery life jackets and ice chest I thought it was just because of my weight but my buddy (rocket man) drove it by his self and the same he only weighs proble 140. Any help will be appreciated.

Sounds about normal. Deep water conditions? Shallow water conditions?

Why do you people think you can get these high speeds from an engine that actually only has about 31.5 HP on a big ass boat.

I think the sales guys at PD, GT , MB Etc blow alot of smoke up everyones ass.

These things were not made for speed. They were made to get us to the pond or stand.

I think its alot more along the lines of people online blowing smoke up peoples asses. They go out and ride and hit a shallow area, their gps reads 30 mph for a minute, and so now they have a 30mph boat.

I would expect 27-28 to be a good average speed in deep water for that boat. My 36 PD before mods, on two 1848 hulls with 3/16th bottom, ran 27-28 consistantly in deep water.

Your speeds sound about right. Wait 20-30 hours and have a valve job done, and you will probably pick up a little extra speed.

It's prolly just leaky valves.

watch that gps and find out where the sweet spot is.... modded motors turn above 4350 so there is no danger there, but find that sweet spot.

Do like DDM said, but 28 is about what I run in mine on avg. This is the 3rd motor on this hull & that's been the avg solo speed for every one.

Alot also depends on where you have tour weight. Moving a 5 gallon spare gas can or ice cheat forward or back can increase 1 mph some time. Centered weight can help also. When I has my rig set us as tiller some one said that moving left or right can increase / decrease speed. I didn't believe him until I tried it. Its a fact Jack. I like most have spent a small fortune trying to get a few MPH more. The HP to cost ratio on these motors are stupid. Do I regret it hell no cause I like the extra power.

I guess what I am saying is there are so many variables that can increase / decrease you speed its crazy.

I have the same boat 1846 gtb with 35gtr and I have never got over 27 and I have increased my out of water rpms. I never get over 3950 ish unless my props wore down. Its could be the valves right?

There's a Phillips head screw inside a spring on the throttle linkage bracket between the exhaust & engine. Standing on the starboard side of the motor, looking towards it, you'll be facing the screw head. Tighten=higher rpm, loosen=lower rpm. You won't be able to get over 4300 because of the coils, but try to turn it up to 4250-4300 at WOT in neutral.
