 Re: microchip
I have it on all mine. Always will. Age doesn't matter
Stolen or lost and brought to a vet, they always swipe for a chip and my info will show up

 Re: microchip
All of mine have been home again chipped, and all future pups will be as well. I've always had them chipped by the breeder when I picked them up at 8 weeks. It greatly improves your odds of getting them back if they're lost at home, especially if you're out of state or even the country on a hunting trip. I always put my vets contact info on the registration as well, that way if I happen to not have phone reception they'll contact them as they've got 24 hour answering service.

 Re: microchip
Heads up!!!
Have your vet check for the chip. My 9 year olds chip slid down to his chest sometime between 1-2 years. I put a second one in because I was pretty sure no one would look for a chip on his chest.
I have had a few lost dogs show up in my yard. Told every one of the owners, especially the guy with the kid that cried all night, "you would have gotten your dog back sooner if it had a chip" or a phone number on the collar. Made them all promise to do both by the end of the week.

 Re: microchip
I had one put in my dog when she was a puppy. Hopefully it'll never have to be used, but a small price to pay to recover your dog if lost or stolen. Also cheap insurance for those of us that have thousands of dollars in our dog.

 Re: microchip
Most vets will scan the dog on front also, it is common for the chip to move. It is a good idea to have your dog chipped.

 Re: microchip
Both of my labs are chipped. Sadie was chipped at 8-10 weeks and did yelp a little because it was a pretty big needle to insert the chip. Aimee never flinched. I scan them each time at the vet and they show up without fail. They usually put it over the front shoulder area at least that's where it is on my dogs.

 Re: microchip
Microchips are cheap and if your dog ever gets lost or stolen you'll be glad you did it.
