 help on a new shotgun
My wife is in need of a new shotgun. She has been shooting a stoeger m2000 for the past 3 years. #1 idk if we just got a dud or what but its a piece of crap. #2 its really too big for her. She's got really short arms and she basically has to extend her lead arm to where its straight and since we cant find any normal size guns that fit her its pretty obvious we're gonna have to go with a youth model. The problem is, nobody keeps very many in stock for her to try out. She wants to stay with a 12ga. From what it seems, our options are pretty limited. Price is not really an issue as long as its a perfect fit for her but dont want to have to give up our retirement fund for one either. Anybody have any suggestions on which way to go with this?

Re: help on a new shotgun
Has she tried to shoulder a Winchester sx3? Might want to try it out.

Re: help on a new shotgun
I'd look at one of the field grade berettas. It will be soft shooting, and you can spend the money you save on after market stocks that are fitted for her. They she has a great shotgun that fits properly. The stocks can be cut an shimmed for her very reasonably.

Re: help on a new shotgun
Thanks for the response guys. A buddy of mine saw this and actually has an sx2 that he said she could try out. After that we will check into those field grade berrettas.

Browning makes a Micro Silver (which is the same as a Winchester SX3--only little differences like no shim kit) that has a shorter LOP and barrels for smaller shooters. You can get it in 12 too. http://www.browning.com/products/catalo ... 11&tid=389

Re: help on a new shotgun
Right, I'd be more apt to spend the money to make a gun fit properly rather than just at a gun that works. A gun fitting properly leads to better form and more confidence which leads to more broken birds.

Re: help on a new shotgun
MNG i got an extrema 2 and i love it to death but i understand what you're saying. it is deffinately a longer gun than most especially with the kick-off. its like watching a toddler trying to hold a bazooka when she shoots it. she does good on those mallards dropping straight in on top of your head but with her having to lean back to compensate for the gun being too long, a low passing shot on a teal or woody is very difficult. i got a couple buddies that saw my post that has an sx3 and an m2 that shes going to try out this weekend. we'll see how she likes those. still got all summer to make a decision.
she might see this so to save myself from being in the dog house i want to be EXTRA clear that she is a former junior olympic champion and is very strong. so her not being able to handle the gun properly is not due to her being a weak girly girl, its got everything to do with it being way to long for her. just so we're clear.. lol

Re: help on a new shotgun
I hear ya, I'm not what I'd consider weak either, but I still wanted a gun that fit me. It's very important.
Good luck!

My 12 year old daughter shoots a m-2 benelli. I'd say bring her to the sporting goods store and let her tell you which she feels the most comfortable with
