Post New 19x48 extreme metal fabrication
Finally put a 35 gatortail on it and ran for the first time saterday. I was dissapointed in top speed of 23 at 3900 rpms. I had 20gal of fuel, a battery and me at 250. The boat floats high in the water put once boat is on plain, the ass in rides low and the water kinda splashes on the huntdeck. I'm new to these surface drives but a few people told me my transom angle is too steep

Whats the height and angle of transom. What transom motor do you have? Tall or short?

You should be closer to 30 than that. Your rpms are low also. Did you mess with the trim at all while running?

I trimmed up and down, I ran it in bottom and middle hole, got the same rpm and speeds. On the middle hole I got it to 3900, but then the prop came out the water and boat slowed down. I'll measure the transom angle tonite and repost

The top of transom sticks out 6-1/2 " further than the bottom

Just a though. 20 gals of fuel is about 120 lbs. Depending on where you have that located could play into this. If the tank isn't hard mounted, I would move it around and find a sweet spot. Maybe able to swap some weight around to compensate.

I agree with moving weight around to get boat out of water if possible but u need to add 25 more pounds to that 120 pound figure

20 gals of fuel in the front is not the problem. The problem is the transom angle.

So too Much angle not allowing the prop to get high enough to turn the Rpms

If the angle is the problem, Put a shim, like bayouboy and it will allow the motor to come up alittle more. By the way bayou, that shim shit along with the skeg I got from you is the shit.

Post Re: New 19x48 extreme metal fabrication
After compairing a few boats to mine, there was only a 2 degree difference. I recently added Teflon on my bottom and it slowed down 1mph. So after talking to gator tail and a few other people and we came to the conclusion that my boat was ether too big r too heavy. So Thursday I decide to take a ride to Springfield to gatortrax and purchase a 4500 sport v. Went run it for an hour to break it in and see what she do. Well today I ran it and my best top speed was 30 with me(250) and 20gal of fuel.

Oh hell! A Mud Buddy that's faster than a GTR! Say it ain't so! Haha. Do everyone a favor and run the fire out of that rig and post a good review. Seems like every other person that was on MMT and bought a Sport V dropped off the face of the earth. I personally love the look and principle of the Sport V. I hope it turns out be good motor. Nice looking rig!

I think most are waiting on the "H"'s. Gatortrax has had 3 "V"'s advertised for sale for the last couple weeks. Evidently this guy bought one of them.

I called southern outdoors in Thibodaux and Houma and there is a waiting list, I called GT and they had 3 stock motors to sell. So I put down 1500 and went get it the following week after I finished my Teflon. And I do have videos of the boat with the gatortail but can't seem to get it to upload on my phone

Very nice setup and X3 on giving a good review for us, after you run the piss out of that thing!
Seen a really good review on the other site of a V but would love to get someone else's opinion.

I can't believe it ran faster than the GTR. The sport V only has 30% more horsepower...

Is the shifter open on this side in the pic?

Also why isn't the skeg painted?
