Post NEW PRO-DRIVE EFI - TEST IT AND WRITE YOUR OWN REVIEW!!!!
We will have the new Pro-Drive EFI motor at our Demo Events over the next four weeks. I have run this motor already down at Pro-Drive, but now I have one here to run on our Phowler Boats for our Spring Demo events. All I can say is this thing is pretty cool and it has taken the Briggs 36 powerhead to a whole new level of performance, it is sweet! Below is a complete line-up of the Boats and Motors we will have on the water demo at our first event this weekend in Sterling, IL.

NEW PRO-DRIVE EFI at our Spring Demos:

Here is the line up of boats for our first demo event this weekend in Sterling IL

NEW PRO-DRIVE EFI MOTOR WITH NEW TRIM SYSTEM ON PHOWLER 1866

NEW COOPERHEAD 23 VANGUARD ON PROWLER EXTREME 1744

It will be a fun day on the water with the most complete line of Pro-Drive, Cooperheads and Phowlers on the water ever, all in one place, ready to run.

Come on out and demo with us, it will be a great day, lunch provided. Go to our website for time and directions to this weekends demos in Sterling IL on the Rock River.

You can't tell the old gear box from the new, the secret is inside. In short the new generation gearbox is designed to take advantage of the 4750 high rev Briggs engine. The motor will run at higher sustain RPM while increasing power and torque at the prop, allowing for a more aggressive prop the = more speed and load handling. They have been doing r&d on this for along time to get it right. I have run them at PD over the winter, they will be a welcome improvement in power and speed. The EFI is really impressive as well, improves performance at all speeds from idle to 4600 RPM.

Hope some folks from MMT can come out and run them for themselves and write their own impression as a review, they will have the current motors, EFI with current box and a motor with the new box all side by side on the water to compare.

We have a ride going on the same weekend and just picked up a local pd dealer as a sponsor. Maybe we can talk ol KP into sending one up for us to demo too.

Will this new LU and clutch be able to be retro-fitted to older frames?

Have they determined a tentative release date and price on the upgrades yet? My local dealer really couldn't say, other than ProDrive is working on it.

Post Re: NEW PRO-DRIVE EFI - TEST IT AND WRITE YOUR OWN REVIEW!!
I do not have pricing on the LU upgrade and clutch yet. As rumored the EFI will be around $1900 for the kit, that will include the new EFI intake, all the efi components and I believe the exhaust with sensor. Yes the new LU, clutch and EFI can be retro to older motors, the parts needed will depend on the motor. New 4750 High rev motors is just switching the LU and prop. Older 4350 CDI motors will require the 4750 CDI Coils and the heavier values springs that are on the 4750 High Rev heads. Non CDI motors (prior to 2009 or 2010 I beleive) will need some value and head work to handle the higher RPMs, don't quote me on that one yet.

Yes $1900 for the EFI not cheap, but it is a really nice unit and it is inline with the cost of a Stage 1 type kits with head, intake, exhaust are currently out there and it eliminates all the shortfall of a carberated system, so to me it will be a no brainer. If the EFI performs like our Illowa Stage One kit, we will change over to the EFI in a heartbeat for our customers.

Yes they have, but they are not releasing anything on that yet. We will be doing the same up here soon to see what the EFI will do with our heads and exhaust. The only issue will be testing time and reprograming the peramiters of the ECM for the mods from what I understand. I cannot say for sure until I do some testing with our heads, etc. but I expect, just on what I have seen with the EFI motors I have run, that with heads and exhaust, the EFI should run like a full built motor or better. The EFI just runs so smooth and better, it should transfer that over and increase the horsepower when coupled with performance parts. I will let you know when we are able to test it.

Seems to me efi will maybe be faster than a stock carb motor but when it come to carrying a load I wouldn't think it would Handel it as good as a modded motor. I may be wrong but its just my thoughts

i wonder if the drive angle on the new lu changed from the old style ones. seems like if you would put the EFI system on a modded motor that it should still carry a load as it does with a carb

The new gear box is really just a lower gear ratio and a different prop. PD is aiming to take advantage of the higher rev limit and increase load carrying speed.

I'll let you guys know what I think of them after I drive them this weekend. :D I've been holding off on my stage one kit for my bowfishing fig for awhile because I heard they were coming out with something new.

Post Re: NEW PRO-DRIVE EFI - TEST IT AND WRITE YOUR OWN REVIEW!!
Here is a reveiw from Saturday that was posted on a different thread:

A couple of reviews from Saturdays demo day in Winona, with phowler boats and pro drive, and cooperhead motors.
To start off with I have a Jon boat with a longtail. I have been reading and watch stats on these motors and boats. Now on Saturday my youngest son and I made the ride down to Winona from Rochester. I was rather impressed with the engine response of the new efi on the 36 fpr was awesome to say the least. Even though the prop needs more pitch I was more than impressed with the motor and the load, along with how well the boat handled. This new set-up will out run a stage one prodrive all day long. The second review is on the prowler extreme 1744 with the new 23 copperhead. Wow! We had four adults and my son in this boat, so I would say a load of around low 900-1000 lbs. this boat drafted what I would consider very little water. Now we couldn't find the skinny water so to speak but cattails, weeds, and the woods was no problem for it. Got on step quick, handled the woods and turning very well jumped some logs and this motor and boat just kept on moving. It was very easy to stand up and operate or sit. The boat was very stable we could move around and it didn't rock and roll much at all. Now I live in town but if I had the room I would have this 1744 with the 23 cooperhead, and also a 1866 with the 36 fpr efi. With out a doubt and would not look back. Thanks again guys for the great day my son and had a lot of fun! And will be in contact. What a outstanding group off guys you are!
