Post Sub 1k gun
I have been hunting with my current shotgun since I was 15, and it's time to retire it. I love the gun thats why i have never even thought about a new gun, but I want it to still be useable for my little girl in a few years. I want a reliable auto that will hold up to salt water duck hunting. My Ithaca xl900 has a light kick(20ga) and a easy swing to it. I'm getting to old to shoot the Double barrel I inherited from my dad(kicks like a mule with high power shells). I know binelli makes a good gun, but I would rather a domestic made gun.

Under 800 would be freaking awesome, but I really don't want to spend more than abt 1k new. Any thoughts?

Oh, and yes I am a tight wad, and don't want to spend over a grand.

Thanks

What pintail said. Stoeger makes a nice shotgun. But then again, can't go wrong with a benelli.

You can find used ones for a good price. Or you could get the American without the comfort tech.

Stoegar is a good gun and so is benelli but neither is domestic beretta owns them both.
Remington bought baikal but look like they may not make them anymore for the price range I'm gonna say u would have to go with stoegar but if u had that last gun since u were 15 u could splurge and get a benelli or a beretta but if u gotta stay domestic get u a browning

Spend the extra 300 bucks and buy you a browning maxxus. Sold on mine. Looking at a 3"carbon fiber 12 gauge. Very light, not much recoil to them at all. Just my personal opinion. Happy hunting for whatever you decide on.

Beretta A300

Based off the new A400. Only shoots 3" shells tho. There was a great topic on the 3" vs 3 1/2" shells a while back. Lot of shit talking

I bought a Escort waterfowl edition from academy fully camo only paid $520 after taxes.
My buddy said berreta owns them. All n all nice gun shot a case of shells through it this yr and cycled every shell perfect. Only thing i don't like it doesn't shoot 3 1/2" but oh well saves me a lil bit of money lol.

Beretta keeps comming up on most searches I do. I do stil have a ton of 2 3/4 left, so I need something that will cycle them as well as new 3" that I buy. My opinion is if I can't knock me down with a 3" round, they deserve to fly away. The Maxxus is a gun that I have been drooling over, but I need to save a bit so I can upgrade my boat soon. This shit gets expensive quick ya know.

I am just getting back to hunting after a 9 year hiatus from it.

I hunt in a salt water marsh an my benelli SBE2 is almost 5 years old an other than the normal wear it is still holding up. I wouldn't go with another brand after owning this one. It hasn't jammed on me one time very dependable gun. I think it's worth the price tag.

I hunt with a stoeger 2000 that was bought second hand. It was put through hell before I got it and I'm still putting it through hell. It got knocked off the boat twice in saltwater within 5 days and never stopped shooting, Without cleaning or being oiled for 5 days after being in the water and still shot 3 boxes of shells through it flawless. I have a beretta extrema2 and it is now my backup gun for a cheap gun.

I'd recommend a previously owned SX2 or SX3, Benelli SBEII, or Beretta Xtrema.

Beretta A300. Really well designed shotgun. Picked up one in max4 for around 750 part way through teal season last year. Have about 300shells through it so far between duck, skeet, rabbits, and turkey. Really glad I made the switch.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1371768468.347204.jpg

My benelli shoots everything. A buddy of mine has a maxus. I really really like it. I would buy a beretta over it cause I'm done with gas shotguns. But I do really like it. It's the same as an sx3.

Thanks, i'll check out the silver, and the A300. Is the camo a more durable finish than the black? I have been using a blued gun for years, and usually hose my gun down with wd when I get to the landing to inhibit corrosion as best I can till I can clean after I finish cleaning ducks.

The camo finish also keeps less of the exterior metal on the gun exposed to the elements and it looks good. I use corrosion x to keep the gun lubricated.

Granted all guns must be cleaned, but the inertia guns dont have to be perfectly clean as the gas operated shot guns.. Stoeger is also a benelli brand.

We must get shit Stoegers in Canada because imo all the ones ive used or had friends or hunters i know have used SUCKED!!

Stoppages, jams, breaking.....

I have steered clear from the Stoegers for those reasons.

Go with the big 3 B's

Benelli Beretta Browning

I see a lot of shitty advice to buy shitty guns in this thread, with recommendations to buy a Stoeger at the very tip top of the shitty advice list.

For $800-$1000, there are a TON of quality guns, including but not limited to.....

A brand new Beretta A300 or 3901

Good quality used 391's in good shape can be had in your price range all day long

Used/great shape Benelli M1 and all the other 3" only models they have
