Post Moving to SE Texas?
I may be moving to Houston but would like to live near the coast. Where should I look to live close to the coast with good duck hunting, reasonable real estate, and decent schools? Any suggestions? Thank you. Planning on bringing my airboat and mud boat.

Work is in Houston? Where at in Houston?

I commute everyday from the Clear Lake / Kemah area to just inside the loop. (About 45 min drive)

My house is about 3 min from a boat ramp for fishing the bay system, and there is decent hunting in just about any direction within an hour drive. (better the further you go)

I live in Clear Lake, I'm 15-20 mins to downtown Houston and 25-30 to the seawall(galveston). Depends on what you consider close to the coast. I've lived here for 3 years now. I commute to Texas City for work. Not sure if you are working in Houston or one of the surrounding areas. Drive times can vary drastically depending on which way you are traveling and at what time.

I will have to travel all over SE texas. I work remotely but will spend alot of time in Houston so an hour drive isnt a big deal. WOuld love to be some where close enough to the fishing and hunting so its only a short trip before and after work to get my fix.

Houston, Crosby, highlands, Baytown, kemah, deer park, clear lake, cove. I could go on and on.if your close to Houston at all you have alot of places to hunt near by. I'm in Crosby. I'm 1 min from the lake, 5 min from the river and about 15 from the bay!

Barnes, I do work in the plants, Actually I even work for Marathon, but we were just sold, I'm at the former BP site across the street from the one you were likely at.

3rd Coast, Yea we are real close, I think I already took OT for the next weekend but I'll double check. I think I may have met your dad or someone you run around with's dad. I was running Pierce Marsh back behind Bayou Vista, he asked me if I knew his son, he said "He's got one of them GatorTails too, I though ya'll GT owners all new each other." I laughed and told him I was the new kid on the block. He was in a fiberglass flats boat, pretty sweet rig.

As far as the area Clear Lake is nice but I do think once my wife starts working I'll be looking for something closer to work with alot more land. More than likely the Santa Fe area. Clear Lake is nice but its a far cry from Groves, TX.

TPerkins-

You will enjoy working for Marathon. Obviously it is not as big or global as BP, but you will enjoy it. I was with Marathon for 5 years (only at TXC for 2/Garyville LA for the other 3) all refining downstream. A lot of growth in their refining sector and opportunities. Especially since they bought the BP refinery.

Yea its refreshing to see a company come in that knows Refining, BP had success in exploration but lets face it, there accident/fatality rates shows they don't know how to run shit. So far I've seen only good things with Marathon.

3rd Coast, yea he was a cool dude. I work with alot of people from Santa Fe, it just reminds me more of home.

Kemah and clear lake, league city are nice area to live and close to the water. Any thing closer to Houston will suck and the schools are more likely to be gang ridden the closer to Houston you get. Galveston ain't that far if you're workin off 225 or 146.
