Re: who builds aluminum clutch covers?
I bet GT makes a living off of selling the stock plastic covers. That's why they built em outa plastic. I guess ur the business man. I bet ur the first one to think of that pitch.

Re: who builds aluminum clutch covers?
These aluminum clutch covers seem to be verry dificult to find can some one who has one post a pic and mention in their post how much they paid for them. I can have a batch made up by the end of the month if its worth mine and my guys time.

Re: who builds aluminum clutch covers?
That was the thing, TIME, you can just throw one together to get you by, yeah thats no problem, but to build a quality cover that looks really good takes time. My builders actually took the time to Bend the Louvers for all 3 sides and half the cover was bent. Tried to do as much bending as possible to cut down on the welding. With the vibrations of these motors they'll vibrate one to pieces if it isn't put together right. Went through alot of trial and error with them, at one point we upgraded thickness which solved alot of the problem. The thinner covers were nice cause they bend easier and you could get them on easier. Just takes time but you guys are right its not impossible.
I've talked to GT about why they don't put aluminum clutch covers and the answer was Time. Its way easier to pour a molded plastic cover. Alot quicker in the long run.

Re: who builds aluminum clutch covers?
Why don't they use a high heat plastic, it probably only cost a few cents more a pound. There is a million different kinds of plastics out there made to stand up to high temps! And I'm willing to bet they use a vacuum molder. We are in the injection molding business, I could get them a plastic that won't melt lol

THis is the very first cover we ever put out, as time went on the edges were updated and they got a little smaller, more low profile looking!

Do you need just the cover to see it and take measurements or the engine with it on it?

Owen I had 2 EVT exhaust that never melted my covers. The covers actually lasted longer than the EVTs did.

Re: who builds aluminum clutch covers?
I'm building one for orangefoot and he can put some pics up and see what y'all think. It's gonna be just like the one that rocketman has but with the covers for the vents longer to fit the GTR stickers. Should be done early part is this week. I shouldn't have a problem building them and shipping out to whomever. Should be about $100 without shipping.

Why don't y'all just put a SS heat shield on the top of the plastic cover?

Re: who builds aluminum clutch covers?
Orangefoot- I would try and see if a welding shop that works on aluminum could make you one going off of the pics of the previous ones made, along with the plastic ones dimensions. Like I said earlier also, try a piece of SS thin sheet fastened to the top of the plastic cover with maybe insulation under it.

Re: who builds aluminum clutch covers?
Get a m.p.e. exhaust or just gut stock exhaust those are the best options neither one required aluminum covers and work good .. Stock is going to last the longest but marshmallow sound better
