 Tuff starting.
Need some help fella's , this is what i got, Not long ago I traded a boat for a 35GDSD it has a gutted muffler and a mukuni carbs on it. Well first let me say , this is my fourth mudmotor and i have never had one this hard to start do to flooding the carb , I've never had a Van guard with a mukuni before either ,they have all beens stock kohlers. If I pump the ball a few times it leaks fuel out of this over flow tube coming from the carb and it won't start so I let it sit for a bit and i get it started but after running it down the river for a bit and slow down and stop and fish for a while and then try to restart the motor , this bitch about kills my battery so i wait a bit then i try to choke it bump the key nothing pump the ball nothing let it sit then all the sudden it will fire up and run great then i move down the river same thing stop and fish restart and then it starts every time but then out of nowhere it will get flooded again leak out more gas this is after i try a give it a pump on the ball because it won't start again , are these mukuni's easy to flood out or what , I've tryed to see what works best for it starting it but everytime i think I've got it , I don't .

 Re: Tuff starting.
Also went out this morning to the river started right up without the choke or pumping the ball then after a short run , got towed back to the ramp because it killed the battery trying to start it.

 Re: Tuff starting.
If it has 42hsr, all you should have to do is squeeze the throttle 2-3 times, then turn the key. Should fire right up every time, unless something isn't right with the carb.
Valve lash could also play a factor in hard starts. Make sure lash is set right & try again.
Could also be a bad or wrongly wired rev limiter. If the hot wire on the rev box isn't connected to a lead that's hot when the key is in the "on" & the "start" position, it'll be a real PITA to start.
