Post hydraulic jack plate for a MM
is it pointless to have a hydraulic jack plate for a MM.
either a GTR or a PD

Gettin my rig in september and puttin one of those motors on it, but cant decide which one i want, anyways do hydraulic jack plates benefit you in anyway.

I've seen them on a boat with dual GTR's on it but that doesnt necassirly mean they benefit the boat, the person could just have an ego problem, lol

Friend has one on his GatorTail that really does great! He can lower that fuker deep in the mud if needed and raises it up while at idle to control his forward speed!seems to work for him.

I can see a jack plate on a regular outboard bc raises motor straight up to run in shallow water but way these are designed I can't see where would help really! That's just my thinking though

6" is what is needed and longer tension bolts or you will have to make a shim.

We put one on a 1860 CC we built for a guy who is a bass fisherman. We tested it in really shallow water with sand bottom where the boat was still floating but the motor couldn't get a bite. Raised the jack plate, trimmed motor down to where just the prop was in the water and were able to get moving and get back on plane over some distance. It created what i call the "helicopter" effect like PD FPR does with thrusting the back up the boat upward.

We don't have a lot of mud round here but my thoughts have been to set the jack plate 1/3 lower than the normal height and 2/3 higher to push the motor down for a deeper bite in the mud (like jimmy said) but still go higher to do what I described in cases like above.

I run jack plates on my dual rig and wouldn't want to be without them. Like Jimmy said they work well in the mud but what I like is balancing the weight in the boat. If I have three people standing at the rear of the boat with my driving I can just pull the motors up higher in the water. If I got a bunch of fish in the box on the front of the boat I can push the motors down to compensate the load.
Now for my tiller rig I wouldn't waist my money on one.

I have decided I am getting a lot of vibration in my motors from the jackplates. You can hear them buzzing when running cause there has to be slack between the two brackets to allow for the motor to travel up and down. I would think you would feel this in your tiller handle.

What jack plate brand you use?

Don't argue with stupidity, it will only drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I run CMC I know a lot of people don't like them but if you mount the relays in a dry location your good to go.

talked to someone, said if ur having trouble gettin out of something, it allows you to drop that motor way down so it can get the best bite possible
