it's not Russian toilet when u know the correct dosage and also the other shit is just a percentage of ivomec I only use the ivomec for cows and pigs and never had any issues and also the dosage was tested in beagles and it was like 128 times more than the average dose before there were any I'll affects in the dog so at one tenths per ten lbs of body weight is no where close what it takes to overdose a dog but it's still way more than one of the other preventives that there is a high risk of not working u can argue the point with me all day long but I guarantee I have raised more dogs than u an dodo getter put together and have neve had a hw positive dog

"Use of Large Animal Products

It is neither safe nor legal to obtain large animal ivermectin products for use in dogs for heartworm prevention. An assortment of doses have circulated around on the internet and in other sources advocating the use of highly concentrated ivermectin formulas for heartworm prevention in dogs. These doses are not comparable to the miniscule doses in licensed heartworm preventive products and using them represents an element of gambling. Large animal ivermectin products are vastly more concentrated than those meant for dogs and it becomes problematic to dilute them properly. Even small doses of these products are unnecessarily high and if they are inadvertently given to a sensitive individual death can result."

I said "most (not all)" and even still alot of field trial guys are probably still doing it because of money. They have more than one dog like most of us. How and why would you know if a dog has ever gotten HW while on ivermectin? Who would report it to you? When do you think the last time most trainers have had their dogs tested? Most of y'all give your own shots etc etc do they make a home HW test kit?
they still bring there dogs to vets and have them checked wether they give there on shots are not there are lots of things that even vets can't tell u they just do the tests and send off for results

again ignorance at it's best. In house HW test are as common as a rabies shot. No need to send off blood for HW test. Just goes to show how far behind in veterninary medicine you are.
ignorance is ur comprehension skills no one said anything about not doing heart worm tests in house I said the big trainers and field trial dogs give ivomec but still take there dogs in for visits to have lots of other things checked that even the vet can't tell u the results on

Being the context of this entire discussion is about HW when scanning over you text I simply assumed you were implying hw test being sent off for.

This home HW test you guys are talking about. Is it considered the snap test?
If so, that is not 100% accurate. Many shelters use that. It can give false positives and negatives. Rescuing dogs I've seen it. A shelter will do a snap test and results show negative. Take the dog to a vet to do a better HW test and they all of a sudden have HWs.

So we as a rescue don't put much faith in those snap tests.

There's no home HW test that I know of. But I think you are referring to the index snap test?

Don't argue with stupidity, it will only drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
