Post Will a 35 Vanguard power my boat?
I have an 1860 Tracker Grizzly. I am curious if a 09 35 Vanguard mudbuddy will be enough power to push my boat loaded with guys and gear. I just sold my outboard and I trying to decide between a jet and a surface drive. Any input would be helpful.

yes it will push it...

a trolling motor would push it...

how much of a load?

a single engine would push a 18x60 mud hull better than yours.

is yours a semi V

Ok fair enough, i didn't provide enough info. The boat is a mod v, we typically hunt 3 to 4 guys. Most of the time we have about 3 to 4 dozen dekes and gear. I had a 50 hp honda 4 stroke on it previously. The boat would run mid 20's.

I had a 1860 grizzly a few years back w a 35hp. I would load it w 4 guys and gear, fat dog and 200 deekes and it would push it in shallower water. If you use that setup in deep water a lot w a load forget about it, it wont get on plane, stay with outboard. I have the same MM on a 2060 phowler now and it does way better in the mud and deep water. I think the grizzly has a 6 degree V hull if I remember rite.

I just got my lowe 1860 back with a 3g pro drive on it. That motor pushes my boat ok. Not great but ok. In open water with 4 people and cooler of beer I ran 23. Not sure how long it will hold up to the abuse so I'm saving my pennies for a phowler.

You have a very big boat and I would look for a bigger engine if you could. By buddy had a stock 35hp Mud Buddy on a 1548 grizzy and it would run 25 with 2 guys and a load. I would imagine you'll go a lot slower.

Would you run a 25 outboard on this hull? That's about how a 35sd will run.

It will be especially turdy on that boat
