 Hearing Protection
Does anyone use hearing protection when duck hunting? I'm looking for some ear plug types and was looking for some suggestions

 Re: Hearing Protection
A buddy of mine got some kind of bionic ear bullshit custom made for him that blocks noise frequency such as loud shotgun blasts. But then he turns to me and asks me if I heard thatbduck quacking 300 yards away. Lol
Ill have to ask him what they are.

 Re: Hearing Protection
Howard Leight impat sports are what I use. I have an extra pair I keep in my blind bag and loan them to whomever is hunting with me. I've heard many ducks coming with them before I could see them. You can find them for under $40 shipped on amazon, I think the cheapest I've seen is $37 and change. I tried using earplugs, but found I'd take them out for normal conversation, and get rung when something buzzed by.

 Re: Hearing Protection
What about with wind? I had a pair of electronic cut-out ones and in any type of wind I just got annoying whistling no matter how far down i turned them.

 Re: Hearing Protection
Got mine from my ENT (Ear Nose & Throat Doctor). Glad I did. Only problem I had was goose hunting. The calls were just at the edge of loud enough to make my "shooting ears" cut in and out.

 Re: Hearing Protection
The impact sports don't whistle with wind unless it is really, REALLY windy. I like them, they are super slim, and don't affect a cheek weld when shooting a rifle. They only have a volume control, but also have an MP3 input and come with a cord so you can hook your phone or Ipod up to them, and I use mine while cutting grass and other noisy chores too. My hearing is "fair", but I get tested every year at work, and since using them religously I haven't had a shift in my hearing.

 Re: Hearing Protection
I purchased Pro Hears by Pro Ears for my boys. They wear a regular foam plug in their "to the muzzle" ear and a Pro Hear in the other. They wear them all day hunting with no complaints. They are so comfortable with them that they insist on using them for skeet too.
Pro Ears is good gear. I have a set of their electronic pro series muffs left over from my sporting clays days that are 15 years old and still work great.

 Re: Hearing Protection
I have the pro ears gold predator muffs and I really like them. They are shaped so they don't affect shouldering your shotgun like a lot of muffs do.

 Re: Hearing Protection
What about electronic ear plugs? I want to be able to hear but don't want to wear muffs. I know about walkers but don't want to pay the price.
