Bought four for a cooler radio. After listening to them I realized the cooler with four holes were worth more than PYLES. They are that cheap for a reason.

Get one of those steel straps they put around lumber, and you can make a decent, cheap set of headphones. They won't be the Bose quiet comforts or whatever, but you won't have to turn them up to distortion level if they're on your ears!

I'll check for myself when I get my cooler radio built. If they are pyles of shit I guess I'll be in the market for 4 holes to fill

I have 2, but I am thinking of mounting (2) more 8" bazooka's in the back of the boat somewhere, haven't figured out where yet. I can't even come close to hearing the radio over that loud ass EVT exhaust.

Quick lesson...

The gain on an amplifier is NOT a volume knob. Its a setting that should be matched to the input voltage. Turning it all the way up is not good for any of the equipment (unless you're using a ~.100mv input which almost every source out there is capable of putting out a better signal than that). You are driving the amp past its limits which forces it to produce more power than it was intended to which is going to make it run hot and put out a shit signal. Not very many amps can do this efficiently. Even the ones that are capable of putting out more than their rated power can't do much more cleanly. 9.9/10 times you are sending a clipped signal to the speakers which not only sounds like shit, it doesn't allow the speaker to cool itself properly.

You can use cheap equipment within its limits and produce decent, reliable sound. If you want it to be "LOUD" AND sound good, use quality equipment and set it up properly. Most speakers are damaged from being fed a clipped signal, not from being fed too much power. Most amps are damaged from being loaded with speakers below the amps rated ohm load, or from being driven well past their limits (most of the time, this is one in the same).

the pyle speakers I had in my truck at one time, burnt up in the first day. I'm the type of person that I rather wait and get something with a little quality. Memphis or bazooka marine speakers are top notch in my book...and if you get them online most of the time u will find them for 50-60% cheaper than say going to a store.
